Our local away from home

The food never gets dull- you can stick with fish and chips or go for more adventurous dishes; we stayed in B and B nearby and never had to have the same meal twice. Even "ordinary" mains had a twist to them like the hot creamy sauce with the Medburger. They keep their beer well and there's a... read more

Stopped here for a drink and a light bite to eat whilst driving around and sightseeing for the day. Really approachable and friendly staff. Our light bite entailed ordering a anti-platter sharer as well as some calamari. Both meals were fanstastic, and would recommend this as a dining experience for couples and friends.

I love this pub - it is so comfortable and warm and has a wonderful atmosphere. The log fires burning in the winter, excellent live music and such friendly service. I've have eaten here a couple of times for Sunday carvery (which is fantastic!) but I took my parents for my mum's birthday in December and everyone was so friendly.... More

We have dropped by in the past for a snack type lunch but this time went for an evening meal. Glad we booked as it was very busy. Staff as always most helpful and friendly and despite the crowds food was delivered with minimal wait. Well balanced menu and we all chose different starters and mains. Everyone was impressed by... Driving past and decided to drop in for some food instead of heading to watergate bay. Staff were really friendly and though it was close to 3pm when they stopped serving offered to get the kitchen to hold on longer if we needed time to decide. Impressed with the food as it can be easy to get the basics wrong... More

Visited 3 times in the last week, always welcoming and food excellent much better than others in the area. Will be our first call when visiting Cornwall later in the year.

This was our second visit to the pub whilst holidaying in Cornwall. We were not disappointed once again. The place was heaving, great atmosphere. There is a log fire which is very welcoming on a cold winters night. Lovely and cosy feel. I ordered the traditional fish & chips, and was not disappointed. The portions are generous, and the food... We always go here when we visit friends in nearby St eval. The pub is welcoming and very dog friendly. We have eaten from the main menu and the Sunday carvery both are very good value and lovely food. We often end up playing pool and a few of their family favourite board games which are free to use. The... More
