We had a nice meal here, hot and tasty. Would come again.. Good service. Partner had toad in hole, mash was a little lumpy and needed flavour, but all good bar that.

Atmosphere was good and food was reasonable but the lit sign outside did not do the property justice.

We booked a table for 7 people for 19.00 hrs yesterday evening bank holiday monday. We have frequented the establishment alot in the past as we live 14 miles away...... But wont be again. The menu was like something from the 1970s, Pate, prawn cocktail, whitebait, soup of the day and deep fried brie (this was unavailable as they had... More

We stayed here last weekend for a family occasion. Our room was spacious, immaculately clean, with lovely bedding and extra large fluffy bath towels. The breakfast provided by Lewis was perfectly cooked. His humour brilliant, and nothing too much trouble. When visiting our relatives in the area we will certainly stay here again.

We visited on a Wednesday night & ate in the bar which was ok but lacking in any sort of atmosphere. I ordered the stuffed chicken which was nicely presented and quite "cheffy" looking but my daughter's omelette was just presented with chips and my husband's fish lacked finesse in presentation. Both commented that the chips were bland and my... More

We are sorry you do not recognize what we want to be------it is just a straightforward pub that offers good quality food at reasonable prices. We do not want to be fine dining as you will see by the prices. Our chips are hand cut and cooked to order so often they do seem different to the standard frozen chips generally... More

The Royal Oak has changed hands (or management) several times in the past 10 years, trying to find a niche in a small town known for its pubs & restaurants. We thought we'd give it (another) try to see if this time it hits the mark. Sorry, it misses. The restaurant area has undergone some refurbishment - not radical, but... More

All we can do is apologise for your experience which you found was poor .Seems you enjoyed your food on the whole but did not get the attention all guests deserve. It is a reminder to our headchef ,who we know is excellent, to ensure very capable staff are on duty on her night off. We wish you had mentioned... More

Staying at a nearby B&B for a couple of nights, we wanted somewhere for a quick and tasty evening meal. Our hostess recommended the Royal Oak. We found it easily enough and they were able to accommodate us despite the fact we had just walked in and hadn't booked. We both ordered the fish and chips. Unfortunately, because a local... More

I recently had a meal here with my partner. I've eaten here a few times recently and noticed a significant improvement. The food was well presented and delicious. The advice was very good and the staff were helpful and polite. They could so with a dedicated waiter or waitress, as it felt like it was a bit much for the... More

It is so heartening for our team to get such a positive review and particularly for our Head chef/manager Cristie. Working with her ,it was the intention to concentrate on improving the food offer and we have had many compliments on our new menu.. We take on board the comment of a waitress in charge but know you will appreciate... More

We are staying in Lostwithiel for 4 nights & have dined at the Royal Oak on two evenings & really enjoyed the quality meals & the warm , comfortable of the place. On the second occasion we happened to meet the young chef & she is obviously passionate about her profession.

I remember you as you were a joy to serve and so appreciative of the stuffed chicken breast. Cristie our head chef manager is passionate about the food she serves and is passing this enthusiasm and skill onto her apprentice Keiran who cooked your meal on the second visit, under her supervision. We do hope you will visit us again if... More
