The best pasties!!!

Always call here for lunch after a very long drive from Manchester, decent pasty with decent filling, the only problem is I have never finished a pasty from here because they are too filling!!!

I have never, in probably 15 years of buying pasties from here, had a bad one. The same can be said for the sister shop in Praze (and I'm pretty sure I've been going there even longer, but I'm not old enough to remember!). Go early on a Saturday otherwise you might miss out, they sell quick! Best pasties in... More

We tried a couple of different pasties while in Cornwall and Philp's definitely came out top for us. We were staying in an apartment across the road from the main Philp's shop in Hayle and the queues out the door at lunchtime would suggest other people agreed!

We did a Hayle double-header to settle the dispute as to whether Hampsons (no relation) or Philps were the better pasties. Unfortunately Philps failed to live up to the hype - pastry was dry and cardboardy, filling a little mushy and a little mean with the meat. Definitely not the best. Saffron buns were nice though.

Has to be the best in the south of cornwall, light pastry great fillings and always available, queues all day every day, and the bonus. Cream tea to take away. Another reason to go to cornwall and enjoy. The staff are great ,the pasties wonderful and the cream tea to die for we will be back .take some home frozen... More

Last night we entertained our twinned town of Pordic in Brittany to a night of dancing (barn and Zumba ) followed with Cornish cider and or wine with a Philp,s pasty and saffron bun, they really enjoyed it, for some it was a real culture change but a real successful one. This was held at Hayle rugby club, a very good venue,easy... Our early morning dog walks along the Hayle harbour led us past the pasty shop. The smell of pasties baking was mouth-wateringly good. We treated ourselves to a pasty for lunch and we could not believe the size of them! They even had my husband beat as he was unable to finish his. We bought a box of 10 to... More

I grant you that when it comes to pasties it is all about personal preference and taste. Personally I like a steaming hot pasty with plenty of seasoning and a tasty gravy that builds up at the bottom. I have had several pasties from Philips and often the veg is hard and uncooked. They seem to be rushed in and... More
