Finnygook means Finnys ghost and the story goes that Finny was a smuggler/pirate like many round those parts in the late 1700's. Unfortunately he gave his mates up to the revenue man (tax man to you and I) so his mates killed him. He has been haunting these parts ever since. Well if he was in the... read more

We dropped in here for lunch and were very pleasantly surprised. We had not been here for some time as we were disappointed the last time. We heard it had changed hands so gave it a go. Right from the moment we entered we felt welcome. The place was clean and staff very friendly. We chose to eat from the... More

Revisited with a party of 12 people (pre-booked) and we all enjoyed a sumptuous three course meal followed by teas/coffees and blissful mince pies - everyone loved it - nice ambiance, excellent food, great friendly service - they could not do enough to make sure we were all happy!! HIGHLY recommended - but do pre-book!

The duck and sweet potato was the nicest duck I have ever had. Staff are all friendly, service was perfect. Couldn't see a fault, had... More

It is a long time since I had such a delicious meal that I ate to the point of wanting to burst!! Everything was beautifully cooked. Duck slightly pink and cooked to perfection, perfect additions of sweet potato dauphinoise and red cabbage with a delicious jus to finish the meal. Also had a side order of perfectly cooked vegetables. The... More
