Amazing Sunday Lunch

A group of four plus a puppy visited the Finnygook on Sunday 22nd February having heard good things about the place from family. On what can only be described as a completely miserable day we were greeted with a lovely warm fire in the bar. Service for drinks and taking of orders was swift. When... read more

Ah, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your roasts with us. Also thank you for your feedback re. vegetarian dishes- we're still quite new here so are still working out demand etc for dishes, but more choice for vegetarians is definitely something we'll be looking into, so... Our first visit here and we will definitely be back. The staff couldn't have been anymore helpful or friendly. The lunchtime food was fantastic; between us we had the nachos, doorstop sandwiches, baguettes....it was lovely and very reasonably priced. I wish the new owners well in their venture and will be recommending to family and friends!

Called here a week or so ago for a Sunday roast and i have to say its one of the best Sunday roasts i have ever had. Me and my wife chose the Lamb and we got a few huge slabs of tender lamb and loads of wonderful trimmings. We were full after the dinner but couldn't resist the desert... More

Like many locals we were put off by the previous owners. We heard it had changed hands and boy has it changed so much for the better, the team are wonderfully friendly and real hosts, the food was delicious, mouthwatering and good sized portions. We had a wonderful Valentines evening, fresh roses on the table, a really nice balanced menu,... More

Now under new management, called in for Sunday lunch - it was to die for! - beautifully cooked beef, crunchy goose fat roasties, plenty of different veg and perfect yorkshires, the pork was perfect, fabulous crackling, very generous portions- we were stuffed and enjoyed every mouthful, ruddy lovely way to spend a chilly Sunday afternoon!

The Finnygook has gone through a number a changes in the last six or so years, some good and some not so good. Basically you need to ignor any of the reviews prior to December because this place is definitely heading back to the good times. We don't live permanently in the area but visit regularly and had stopped frequenting... More

Driving for 5 hours in torrential rain to visit friends is never an enjoyable experience, but was quickly forgotten when entering The Finnygook Inn. A roaring log fire and warm welcome from friendly staff meant it was all with it. Apparently the pub has new owners and they certainly seem to know what they're doing. The food and service were... Have been visiting the Finnygook for many years off and on, but tonight was our worst experience ever. Arriving at 7:15 and having booked a bar seat (not the restaurant as usually more interesting) we placed our order at the till as the number of customers was increasing at the peak 7:30 and we tried to "get in ahead of... We have read over some review before going Off trip advisor. And would first like to say the food and service was amazing. Seeing some negative reviews we queried whether or not to go. But we did and it was one of the best meals I have had all year! The staff were very helpful and all seemed to love... More
