Good but a bit pricey

Loved this place when it was known as Brula. Under new management the food is still very good and also the service but our fixed price £16.50 lunch came to £30 a head when a glass of wine and a cup of coffee and 12.5% service was added. The extra charge of £3.25 for a few chips and another £3.25... read more

Visited for my birthday celebration and were directed to the private "Poirot" room - an unexpected bonus. Varied menu, delicious food and wine, unobtrusive service with a smile - all made for a memorable occasion.

We chose this restaurant because it came up on a special offer. Even at full price, I would have considered our meal excellent value for money, but at the special offer it was simply unbeatable. The ambience is very nice and the service was warm and friendly. Our starters were stunning - foie gras and chicken liver parfait, cucumber gazpacho,... More

My husband and I booked a meal here for a celebration recently. We came in anticipation of the ils flottante but in fact were impressed by every little detail here. The first thing which was markedly apparent was the lack of other dining guests tapping away at their mobile phones. There was a marvellously convivial atmosphere. So refreshing. Firstly, my... What a great review, we're so glad you enjoyed the atmosphere as much as the food. We hope you'll give us another chance to make your favourite dessert next time? More

Having been a semi regular at what was Brula I was keen to see if the change was one for the better. I went for lunch on my own and was very surprise that the old Brula was still alive and well! The fring of house was attentive without being overbearing, the chef certainly knows what he's doing. I had... More

We decided to try Le Salon Privé for our wedding anniversary meal, and are very glad we did. The restaurant's ambience is excellent. The tables are not too close together and the noise level is appropriate for the business of eating. And in that connection, the kitchen can only be commended. My wife enjoyed a delicious combination of witloof, walnuts,... More

Many thanks for your review and for being so thorough. It's nice to hear details about individual dishes and we're pleased you also approve of the wine list, which we put a lot of effort into as well as the kitchen. We hope you'll come again for either another special occasion or for something more casual. More

We ate here on a Friday evening. The place was packed but service remained swift and efficient - never an easy balance to achieve. Our meal was very good. Cucumber gazpacho with grilled prawns and mint was delicious as was the asparagus. The medium-rate rib eye was excellent and the sea trout moist, flaky and delicious. A very good meal

This place has a delightful club-like ambience being close to the leafy parks alongside the Thames, with crisp linen, well-set covers and impeccable service in a beautiful original 1840s house. The Italian chef trained in France and the food is simple, fresh, delicious and authentically French. There is an upstairs room for private parties and a few tables outside on... More

Took 25 mins to give us so much as a glass of water. Ordered glass of Chardonnay and got Prosecco. When I queried I was told it was sparkling Chardonnay. Asked for wine list and pointed out it wasn't and could I now have a glass of Chardonnay. That arrived (eventually) with no apology and then to top it all,... More

Thank you for taking the time to review us. While we're glad to hear that you enjoyed the food, we are very sorry to hear that you were let down by the waiting staff. As we opened recently, some new staff are still in training and unfortunately mistakes were made on the day you visited us. That said, they should... More
