A Cena restaurant is located just over the Richmond Bridge in East Twickenham. A fantastic local italian restaurant set in a warm, friendly, elegant but relaxed atmosphere with a menu that constantly changes to suit the changing seasons and ensuring only the freshest and best ingredients go into our dishes. The wine list is superb ranging from small, modest Italian Vineyards to some of the great names and vintages. A Cena means "at dinner" and is pronounced "Ah Chenna"

Modern Italian food served by scruffy Italian waiters

This is the best Italian restaurant in West London. Too many Italian restaurants overload their menus with what they deem to be compulsory dishes: lasagna, osso buco. spaghetti bolognese etc, etc, et boring cetera. By contrast, A Cena has a well-constructed, light, modern Italian menu, with... read more

We decided to come here on a recommendation prior to going to the European Final at Twickenham and we were not let down. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were looked after fantastically well. Service was prompt without being rushed and the food was sensational. All washed down with excellent well priced wine. I don't... More

Too many Italian restaurants overload their menus with what they deem to be compulsory dishes: lasagna, osso buco. spaghetti bolognese etc, etc, et boring cetera. By contrast, A Cena has a well-constructed, light, modern Italian menu, with fresh produce cooked with Italian aplomb...by a Brit. The barbecued mackerel starter came with... More

Jeans and T-shirts. No choice of beer, only Bodingtons. Served in a pint glass. Plastic table cloths. IKEA crockery. Prawns in batter. Duck (part burnt) and roast potatoes (as crispy as I do them) with water cress. Blob of ice-cream swimming cognac (in my breakfast bowl - we have posh crockery too!). At the age of 45, this is the... If we were talking about an ideal local restaurant, A Cena has to be way up there. Lovely, characterful room, pleasant service & proper Italian food. On a lunchtime visit, lots of v reasonably price options. Lovely mozzarella & lentils (looked beautiful), shallot bruschetta, large portion of hake with caper butter, calves liver & grilled polenta. All very enjoyable. The... More

My second visit to A Cena did not disappoint. Efficient, friendly but non-intrusive service, quality food in good portions, pleasantly busy yet relaxed atmosphere. Not cheap, yet good value. All-in-all, a fairly rare mixture in London restaurants these days.

An excellent evening in a traditional styled Italian restaurant. The waitresses were friendly, the food and drink being served quietly and efficiently without disturbing the ambiance of the table. The menu is quite limited in scope however as all appears to be freshly cooked, it is little wonder. There is enough choice for most palettes, although surprisingly little pasta? Starters... More

I only ever re-review restaurants if something changes. In the case of A Cena, I'm doing so because, after being a regular customer since it's inception around 12 years ago. this family run place has changed hands. The original owner has gone on to re-invent the legendary Joe Allen in London's Theatre District. For over a year he ran both,... More
