Go on a weekday.

Stony-faced maitre d' but staff friendly and welcoming. We went on a Saturday night and found the place very noisy, partly because (it seemed to us) too many tables had been squeezed into the small room, and partly because a pianist of the old pub, keyboard plonking kind was belting out tunes of a... read more

We went to this restaurant to celebrate my fathers 80th birthday - big mistake! We were a family party of over 20 adults and the service was atrocious - one of our party never got a main course - they brought the wrong meals out - everything was staggered with one end of the table eating mains whilst people were... Really amazing home-made Italian food. There wasn't one dish we didn't love. And to top this off, this is right down the street from us. I do wish as a first-timer that they would have told us you can make the antipasti course a starter. If you order antipasti expect it to be LARGE. Typically they aren't that large. The... More

Eight of us went on Sunday and all had the roast. Beautifully tender beef topped with a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and broccoli. The puddings matched the main, with the chocolate bombe voted the favourite. Good atmosphere and good service.

Excellent dinner last night at “Shambles” with Jane, off duty Mayor of Richmond, and Politico Liz. Liz and I had been there on Tuesday to meet another Mayor; but, his minders shuffled Boris off along Teddington High Street to avoid a pic with the restaurant sign in the background. That would have made the front pages! Delightful food: minute steak... More

I've visited this restaurant a number of times and it used to be really good - interesting menu and good value. However, last visit the food was poor - a starter with 4 prawns and soggy bread on top, bruschetta which was cold with a few chopped tomatoes and no flavouring. Worst of all was the Tiramasu , usually great... More

Arrived at the shambles restaurant expecting to have the sunday roast which was advertised on the window in clear view. When we gave our order to the waiter he explained that there was a problem as they had run out, surely the notice should have been removed from the window. Anyway he showed us other options for us to have... More

I'd read a few negative reviews about the staff here, so I just wanted to share my experience. I went for lunch today with my son and his girlfriend and couldn't have wished for more! The meal was lovely, generous portions and delicious food, and all the staff couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly and attentive, but without being "over... More

A group of us met at this favourite that we used to frequent weekly, over 30 years ago. Whilst the food was on the whole fine, the service and friendliness left a lot to be desired. Indeed they were quite rude at times, despite the restaurant being quiet. Perhaps they don't like groups, but we spent quite a lot of... More

Eaten here several times now and never had a bad meal. Great quality ingredients and good portions together with consistently good service. A reliable favourite.
