Unexpectedly great airport food

Great food before our flight, lovely and quiet with fast service. Worth heading to Heathrow a little earlier for some proper food before your flight.

On passing through Terminal 3 we found ourselves with the luxury of time and decided to take some lunch - not something to be taken lightly in an airport - until now. We chose the Oriel Grand Brasserie which is airside next to Burberry. It has calm atmosphere and nice traditional brasserie decor. My wife chose the hamburger and I... More

Wow! This restaurant is a surprise!!! Tucked away behind the expensive shops and the cardboard food outlets lurks Oriel. Service is quick and absolutely superb. I had the Loup de Mer, the skin was crispy, the potatoes excellent and the fish delicious. Sure, it is no Michelin starred restaurant, but you'd be happy to receive the food and service in... More

A superior version of Café Rouge chain. It was clean and staff were both friendly and efficient without being in your face. Service was brisk and accurate. The meal I had was well prepared, a decent sized portion and attractively plated, served at the correct temperature. It was not busy, possibly because it is tucked away in a corner location.... This was one of the worst airport food experiences I had for a long time. Most requests from my table were messed up by distracted staff (that managed to completely ignore simple requests such as "hamburger with no mayonnaise" or "pasta with no cheese"). Despite this, food was served plain cold. The children's menu serves so tiny amounts of food... More

We were about to go on a night flight and looked for somewhere which would serve what I call proper food. Found this and the menu looked interesting. We were sat promptly and menus were handed quickly. Both had Alsace Cremant (which is a French sparkling wine) and it was great. We then both had the entrecote steak and chips... More

Wandering past the caviar bars, bars and take-away coffee shops, and too many perfume sellers, but wanting a sit-down hot breakfast, I stumbled upon Oriel Grande Brasserie. It was quiet and peaceful, and I whipped out my laptop, used the free wifi, and ordered off the Petite Dejunier menu, Oeufs Brouilles au Saumon Fume, oak-smoked Scottish salmon with scrambled eggs... Prior to my flight I chose to eat at the Oriel based inside terminal 3. A charming lady greeted and escorted me to a table. I was served in good time in a polite and friendly manner by an equally charming waitress. Who I noticed paid attention to her customers. The starter, Pate de volaill arrived quickly and was simple... More

Nice breakfast , filet minute with 2 fried eggs and potatoes, 10 gbp. Not busy, with clear screen with departure times to keep an eye on the flight. Also good mint tea!
