The Place to Eat

There were three of us, we did book and I would recommend that you do as at weekends it is busy. The specials board was limited which in my view is a good thing. We were seated with a smile and our order quickly taken. My burger was excellent, my partners fish and chips was in her words the best... read more

I have been to this pub/restaurant many times over the years but have never had such welcoming service here as I did last night, which has always my grip in the past, but last night however was completely different. The staff were friendly, attentive and made you feel like a valued customer. I will most certainly be taking my friends... More

I had frequented Uncle Toms Cabin ten years ago when I was working in the area. It was back then no more than a pub with chips in a basket and served its purpose. Coming back now it is a massive change. The new chef proprietor Luis Blake has turned this place around. His ideas for decor have made the... More

The simple presentation of the place, with no attempt to 'design it up' to get a look. The immediate impression was one of a cosy country pub where people could (and do) meet their friends for a regular meal and gossip. We have been several times and have enjoyed every visit.

We had seen the good reviews and arrived to see a blackboard outside saying lunch served. There were 3 tables occupied on arrival at 12.40pm and most of the others had reserved signs but there was one free by the bar. Having ordered our drinks we asked the young man behind the bar for a menu. He told us they... More

Noticing a faint smell of paint and after a brief chat with the very friendly staff we discovered that the restaurant is under new ownership and management. The food was brilliant, atmosphere was bright and relaxed and the attentive staff cannot do enough for their customers. Very accommodating kitchen even adjusting to my children's fussiness. Amazing value for money... Looking... More

Good food but Sunday lunch was swimming in gravy, a small gravy boat would have made all the difference!

The place is quaint and has had new management and a make over. There's a separate restaurant area and tables in the main bar area, doesn't matter where you sit the food is excellent and the beers are kept well. Booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Very dog friendly!
