Lovely setting and a nice looking venue. Food overpriced. Greasy battered fish. Overcooked hake. Overcooked duck. Mostly uninterested staff other than the young lad at the bar and one of the servers. Average food. With the number of country pubs in that area I would drive another mile to go to a good one.

Visited this restaurant on 27th January as an anniversary treat for my wife. We ordered the Chef's Special mushroom soup with warm crusty bread. It was served in a soup bowl with a lid. When we removed the lid it contained can only be described as a heap of pureed carrot and swede without any liquid. At that moment the... More

Had a great meal well presented and desserts to die for. We enjoyed it even more as it was 50%off food for January

This place used to be excellent, but I've watched a steady declined over the last 12 months, culminated in today's fiasco - undercooked burger [when we'd specifically asked for well done], and cold chips. How on earth can you get burger and chips wrong? There are plenty of other places to eat around here, and I will.

I went with my wife and daughter for a meal at the Red Lion last Saturday. We really enjoyed our evening and the slow roast lamb, sea bass and 1/2 Roast Chicken with the BBQ sauce were excellent. The staff were very welcoming and eager to please.

We went for a family meal to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We'd been several times before and generally enjoyed the food and the whole experience, so this was meant to be a bit of a treat. However, this time was a dissappointment. The food was served quickly, but was quite ordinary. The main issue however was the service. One particular... More

Was given a very good size table space to move, we took a while ordering our meal it had a nice variation on the menu, once ordered it came promptly and everyone enjoyed what they had ordered, staff were nice & friendly. Would definitely return here again. P.s. The... More

Four of us booked Friday night. Sat at a reasonable table. Menus given to us straight away and we had time to consider our order. We ordered starters and main course, the starters arrived in two convoys but the place was busy so - ok. Two of the party ordered the fish, handcut thick chips and mushy peas. Mains duly... More

The Red Lion is located in a lovely setting and has some good outside seating areas. We had a nice meal, the staff were friendly and the ambience was very comfortable. We will certainly be eating here again.
