We'd heard some good things about the Red Lion so decided to give it a go for our anniversary. The last time we'd been here was many many many years ago, I don't even think it was a restaurant at the time, just remember that the beer was great (Sneck Lifter) I recall. Anyway, we all enjoyed our starters, two... More

Called in at The Red Lion for a bar snack and really enjoyed it! The staff were lovely and very helpfull. The food was well presented and very tasty! An added bonus was that dog was welcomed in the bar area and doggy treats provided! A lovely afternoon in all.

Unfortunately I used an agent (laterooms.com) to make a reservation and there were issues between them and the hotelier providing the accommodation. As a result, I can advise others to book directly with the pub, rather than through other means. The accommodation itself was excellent, spotlessly... More

We went here recently for a bar meal. The bar staff were very friendly and helped us with our choice of the 'small fish and chips', informing us that it was more than enough. They were right. the portions are very generous and very well presented. The meal was really nice and we decided to share a sweet afterwards rather... More

A long time since we went to The Red Lion - it used to be consistently good, and still is ! It was very busy, Saturday evening before England's World Cup match. The staff coped well and the service was very good bearing in mind how busy they were. The food was good - what you would expect if you... More

Lovely location in the middle of Hawkshaw in the Lancashire countryside. We were two couples eating on a Friday evening, the restaurant was busy with a good atmosphere. Parking was a little tight but the car park is big enough for all customers. The menu was very good with plenty of choice. I asked for lamb chops done 'pink' and... More

Visited here as part of a group which had been organised by someone else. It was excellent. The menu was great with so much to choose from. The room where we ate as a group was lovely. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The food was served quickly to the whole group at the same time and it was... More
