Very much gone downhill since last visit..

Service so slow, had to ask for cutlery for the main, had to ask for a spoon to eat dessert with. Roast beef was over cooked, tasted like frozen roast potatoes, desserts nothing to shout about. Bill came with another tables wine added to it and an extra roast dinner! Explained to the manager that... read more

If you are ever in the area on a Wednesday, you must call in for their Pie Night. It is fantastic and inexpensive. There were three of us and we all had different and all three really enjoyed them. I had the Steak and Ale, my wife Plate Pie and my friend had the Lamb and Rosemary, all three are... More

Out for a family meal on Sunday! Lots of good things said lately about the food at the red lion! It has been a good few years since I last ate here! Probably about 7 years ago,,,, and when I last regularly ate here,,,,, it was privately owned,,, (I think),,,, and the food was very, very good! I used to... More

We were so pleased with the accommodation- one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in for a long time and very reasonably priced. Rooms were very comfortable with lovely decor. We had fantastic service in the pub too and lovely food, including breakfast. I would highly recommend it!

I visited on Saturday night with a party of 8 for a friends birthday. I could not fault any aspect of our evening. All of our food was fantastic (especially the Camembert starter). All the staff were brilliant. We stayed in the hotel and the room was beautiful. At £80 for the room (inc. breakfast) was very reasonably priced. Unfortunately... More

I have been visiting this restaurant for over 20 years with never a complaint and have given many recommendations to friends but tonight was different. There has always been a 'buzz' about the Red Lion with young staff eager and keen to oblige but that was not there tonight. With the exception of two all the staff appear to have... More

Visited last night for the first time since the new menu has arrived. Great choice now and as a regular visitor I have to say I was getting a bit uninspired by the old menu that never seemed to change much. Hot flat bread and humous to start and then a delicious burger. The chef even changed my cheese choice... More

My family and I have eaten here quite a few times and the food is always good as is the service however it can get very busy and prove very difficult to get a table.

Enjoyed a family Sunday lunch, good sized portions and at a reasonable price. Wide range of dishes on the menu (both price range and type of dish). Great staff, happy to help and have a good eye for detail. Well done to all the team
