We went to the barge for our anniversary meal, as it is fond place of ours. The location is beautiful. Our meal was lovely and we had great value, I used a voucher printed off there website and our meal total was reasonable. Unfortunately my husband was ill that evening which we put down to overload of rich good.

Beautiful setting by the side of the lock. Dog friendly-even selling 'pig ears' for your doggie, however, our meals were expensive and not the best standard. My Roast was £12,95 and had three roast potatoes, which appeared to be reheated, rubbery and tasteless. Most main menus were priced from £9-13 and desserts around£5.95 (although the dessert was good). Coffee, a... More

Always good food and good service although please mote tjis is a popular pub and you can sometimes wait a while for your freshly cooked food. Good atmosphere inside or out.

First time in the Barge for 15 years. Great meal couldn't be faulted, excellent service. Dog allowed in bar and even had his own meal of a pigs ear!! Highly recommended. Thanks.

Stopped in recently for lunch with my mum and my toddler. Beautiful setting and inside is very nice too. They were very busy on the day we went but service was still quick and friendly. Food arrived quickly and was wonderful, it was only lunch so I had a baguette and mum had the ploughman's. Mine was lovely and mum... More

My wife & I enjoyed a couple of drinks here one afternoon, watching the canal boats meander by, and then returned a couple of evenings later for dinner. The pub has a lovely large beer garden right on the edge of the canal. Good food, good portions, service was ok. The roast beef didn't look home made (the slices were... More

We went to The Barge with family on their recommendation and we weren't disappointed. The setting and outlook is lovely being situated at the side of the Kennet & Avon Canal with boats passing. Our meals delivered in a reasonable time, were very tasty and well presented, the staff were friendly and helpful. The most impressive part was a negative... More

We visited here for a birthday lunch. We started with, The Bread Platter, advertised as for waiting with, this was loaded with different delicious breads ,butter and oil with balsamic. Unfortunately it arrived with the starters of Duck Pate for my husband and Ham Hock terrine for myself. The duck pate was good served with a sweet pickle, the terrine was... More

Good food (although specials were a little pricey), excellent service and friendly and welcoming. The location is the fantastic thing about this place, just wish I lived closer for it to be my local!
