Good value in attractive location

I have made a number of visits over the last few years with family and friends. Friendly staff and much to the delight of an Italian friend who suffers with Coeliac disease they have been able to cater for special needs...she had never had Sticky Toffee pudding before and was not only delighted... read more

Back in the area after two years and visited the Barge on spec for a mid week lunch. Staff cheerful, service excellent. Drank the Swordfish and ate the thinly sliced ham (my preference) with duck eggs and chips plus a duck hash with mash potatoes. Thoroughly enjoyed, return visit didn't disappoint, would recommend a table by one of the open... More

We had planned to go to the Barge Inn for lunch and walked there from Devizes along the canal. It is a popular place for Sunday lunch and many tables were booked but we were still able to have a table for 4. The food was well prepared, quickly served and delicious. The staff were attentive and ensured our experience... More

Having gone for a walk by the canal we ended up back at the Barge and asked about the dogs. Yes they were welcome, and there were dog water bowls available and at the bar you could buy pigs ears for them. The meals were promptly served, good temperature and very tasty. We were welcomed well, staff were pleasant and... More

Went as two couples for a catch up over lunch on a Saturday. Booked a table for 1pm and didn't leave until 4.30. Relaxing atmosphere, log fires (cold Feb day) and great food - where did the afternoon go? If you visit try the game terrine starter - best terrine I have had for quite a few years and the... More

We had a delightful evening at the Barge before Christmas for a meal with friends!! We were greeted on arrival at the bar with a warm smile from the gentleman behind the bar and we awaited no time for our drinks to arrive!! A delightful young lady took us to our table in front of a log fire and she... More

A table for 4 .After being shown to our table we made our choices from the menu. It was a good 20 minutes plus when my husband decided he would go and ask if we needed to order at the bar ( we have been here several times before and knew we ordered from the table but nobody came to... More

A great spot for a meal especially in the summertime with the canal and countryside. Close enough to find but far enough away in the country to feel you are "out there".

A large group had Christmas lunch at the Barge Inn. The location is great, by the canal, picturesque countryside, the pub has a large car park and plenty of outside seating. Inside our group had a more private section of the pub looking out to the canal. The staff were attentive and organised which was impressive. There was a varied... More
