A really big thank you to all at the Barge Inn who made four of us, plus two dogs, most welcome when we turned up for dinner last night without having made a reservation. The place was packed - it was a very warm evening - but there was still plenty of car parking space available and we were amazed... More

Very busy Pub, Excellent setting beside the canal. We went for lunch the car park was full, we had not made a reservation so I guessed we would be out of luck. How wrong, No Drama. Staff very switched on, got us in,seated, and drinks ordered, food order taken a few minutes later. Roast beef was very good, Large Yorkshire... More

A good selection of meal choices well catered for people who wanted Gluten free meals etc,, The food came hot and quick and the staff very attentive. The restaurant was airy with the doors open. The garden area was busy with the lunch time bar b que Everyone was well catered for in the excellent position for a meal

We went here for lunch with a friend visiting for the day. We wanted somewhere we could sit outside with our pup on a glorious day. Plenty of outside space with tables right on the canal bank. Enjoyed three delicious salad lunches and various drinks all served with a smile. An IT glitch meant that we waited some time for... More

We visited twice on a recent canal trip, once for dinner and once for liquid fortification after coming down through the Seend locks, when we were fortunate enough to be able to moor outside and step off the boat right next to a bench under a shady tree. It's quite a large pub and clearly gets very busy, particularly at... More

We really enjoy our meals at the Barge, it's so lovely to sit and watch the boats on a summer evening, the roaring fire in the winter is equally as charming. The food is varied and always lovely, the dessert menu is very nice but very naughty. I would say that it's not really suitable for little children but a... More

The location for this pub is wonderful - sitting outside in the sun by the canal. As we were boating for our holiday it was great to eb able to tie up right on the pubs private mooring. Food was of high quality and good proportions - the range of beers was also fine. A very enjoyable evening.

My friend and I shared a meal at The Barge this week and whilst one meal of ham egg and chips was excellent ..alas, that cannot be said of the sausage and mash ! The sausages were thick, heavy and tasted of nothing at all. I am stunned to think these are advertised as Walter Roses !!! When mentioning the... More

We have eaten here several times and I think this was probably the best meal we've had there. We were a family of 6 and each and every one of us commented on the good quality of the food. A minor mix up with one of the starters was quickly rectified and the rest of the meal went without a... More

This inn must be one of the most picturesque on the Kennet & Avon Canal. It has a large restaurant section and is clearly popular with locals. For a party on a narrowboat cruising the canal, the inn presented itself as an obvious stopover with moorings right alongside. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and decided to make a reservation...
