Excellent location, very restful.

We camped about 1 1/2 miles along the canal from this lovely pub, so an evening walk for either e meal or just a drink or two was no hardship. With it's large garden bordered by the canal it is a relaxing place to while away some time watching the narrow boats chugging past. We booked a table as... read more

Eight rather scruffy 'senior' canal boaters moored up at this delightful pub for an early evening meal, and in fact moored for the night. Our welcome was warm and a pleasant table found to the rear of the pub, where we could happily play our dominoes and cards without disturbing those more delicate and reserved diners. Despite what some reviewers... More

The Barge Inn is a nice pub with a great location right on the canal by Seend locks. The one downside is the menu: you don't look at it and say "oh, I'd love to try that", you look at it and say "oh, I've seen that three dozen times before in three dozen places". I will say that the... More

My wife and I were in the vicinity so decided to have lunch here. We last came around 20 years ago when we lived a few miles away. It was a sunny Spring day and we had our drink and lunch sitting outside by the canal and relaxing while the narrow boats pottered by. It's a bit out of the... More

We have rallied across from the Barge Inn soooo many times and eaten there every time we visit. Be it lunchtime, dinner time or just for a drink, the staff are always so friendly and helpful. We had booked, just to make sure, as the outside seating area was heaving with people, due to appearance of the sun!! I had... More

All in all not bad. My advice would be to go for the pub classics and avoid any of the fish dishes. I had faggots. Good flavour, nice gravy but small portion of both mash and red cabbage. My wife had hake. The plate had a pool of water that had obviously came from the fish. This in turn ran... More

We have found the staff to to be excellent here, even when busy . Since we discovered The Barge just a few months ago, we have been back on several occasions and and always had good food and service. Would definitely recommend their small plate fish goujons - excellent value at £6.95 .

A regular for me and my husband. Staff always friendly , amazing food and gorgeous setting along the canal. Roaring log fires in the winter and lovely beer garden in the summer. Great for couples and families. Would thoroughly recommend.

Returned for a lunchtime meal, not very busy, service ok. Menu continues to disappoint, very limited and the specials do nothing to enhance which is a pity. We had ham, egg and chips and faggots with mash, maybe its better to wait for the nice weather and use the bbq offerings outside?

Been here many times over the years. This was a big let down. Fish pie was a bit of a joke; plaice fillet more like a sprat. Location excellent but owners need to up their game befgore the summer rush.
