Good food but not cheap

The food was decent enough but expensive mains for a pub. The bread we were served was stale and impossible to spread the hard butter onto. Oil and Balsamic would be more appropriate for a pub trying to be more of a high end restaurant. Decoration, service and ambience was good. We visited on a... read more

have been recommended this pub for several years. Finally had lunch there today. Average at best. Nothing exceptional about it.

We popped in to the Potting Shed for a quick drink on our tour around the small villages and back lanes on our way back to our nearby hotel. A traditional looking inn from the outside and very inviting. The inside is very relaxing and a good atmosphere and décor. The bar has a good selection of drinks and ales,... More

We visited the pub while staying at the Rectory for our anniversary. The food was really good. Extremely tasty with good menu to chose from. I had the ham hock and pinnacle to start - great combination and really delicious ham hock. Highly recommended

Having visited this pub a number of times in the past, and previously posted a glowing review, on our recent visit we found the choice of mains very limited and a compelete absence of traditional pub food We understood that a new chef was in the kitchen and we expected things to be different, but the indifferent waiting staff and... Stopped with my husband for lunch as haven't visited for a few weeks and heard there was a new chef and a new menu. Usual good variety and friendly welcome from bar staff and no issue finding us a table despite being busy and we hadn't pre booked. My husband had the shredded beef sandwich which was delicious and I... More

Stopped here for lunch following a recommendation. Did not disappoint! Tastey menu. Highly recommend the wild garlic soup if it's on, followed by pork, glazed cheek and leeks. For desert I had the most divine baked strawberry pudding. The place was buzzing and the staff were super friendly. A very cozy pub with quirky detail.

We stopped here on a weekday for lunch with friends. Excellent service and food. We thought the food was good value for money. My partner and I had the burger which was served in a lovely brioche bun which was a nice change from the usual bread buns that other places serve. The burger was very filling and the chips... More

Second visit and still very good (we don't live locally). The food is cooked to a high standard, and although not cheap, it is not expensive either considering the ambience and the friendly attentive service. The portions are generous and well presented. I noticed, in a previous review, someone was not happy with their dog policy. You have a choice,... More

What is it about the Cotswold and specifically the area around Tetbury and Cirencester that means you are going to be ripped off and over charged at nearly every pub you visit? £16 for a nice but not exceptional Sunday roast and no Sunday main course dishes below £14 (fish and chips). And then service charge is expected on top... More
