The Old House at Home is a wonderful old ivy-clad country pub located in the village of Burton, only two miles from Castle Combe. With a soulful and unpretentious vibe, the award-winning, family-run restaurant has a cosy dining room with a roaring open fire and down-to-earth staff. Head Chef Anthony Jones has created a classic British menu using seasonal produce. Fresh fish is delivered to The Old House at Home daily from Cornwall, along with beef from Scotland. Favourite dishes include the guinea fowl served with apricot stuffing and a redcurrant and Grand Marnier sauce; the spicy salmon and crab cakes with a fresh tomato and basil sauce; and the scrumptious chocolate and Bailey's cheesecake.

Lovely place!

We stayed with friends for two nights and ate dinner here for one of them. The sea bass was superb and though the steaks were cooked well, the chips were under cooked which was a shame. Food is excellent as is the service, nothing being too much trouble for the friendly staff. This is probably a "Special Occasion" venue as prices are generally higher than most others but definately worth it. The service is always good & food really tasty with a varied menu on offer. A definite favourite & wouldn't hesitate to take friends &... More

We stayed here for a Saturday night in one of their six rooms which are located just next to the pub. Very nicely appointed rooms with room outside to sit which we were fortunate to do on the evening we were there. We had booked a table in the restaurant and the food and service were excellent. Good menu choice... More

We were heading out for a weekend away with another couple and we turned into The Old House at Home because it looked so nice from the outside. A quick light lunch was ordered and I have to say it was excellent. Nice people and smashing food. And a brief look round before we left showed us how much it... More

Visited here earlier for a birthday meal. Ease of booking on line was very good, The food here is always good not cheap but good. You are always made to feel welcome and the menu offers something for everyone. Have also visited recently for fixed price lunch which again was value for money with good choice and service.

Went for Sunday Lunch at the OHH today - there were 4 in our party. Three of us had the set Sunday 3 course lunch and the other duck breast from the main menu plus dessert. All the food (Beef, Lamb, Chicken) was superb as were the starters and the desserts divine. We have not been here for a while... More

Its only a few months since our last visit to OHH & we were rather disappointed with our meals. The staff as usual were very welcoming & friendly but sadly our meals didn't live up to their usual standard. The faggots on the specials board were not very special & the handmade chips served with the haddock in our opinion... More

We have visited several times over the years and always found the food to be really good and the menu a bit different from other pubs so worth paying the higher prices. Whilst we still enjoyed our meals the choice is now pretty much what you can eat in other pubs at less cost. The atmosphere was nice and I... More
