The Old House at Home is a wonderful old ivy-clad country pub located in the village of Burton, only two miles from Castle Combe. With a soulful and unpretentious vibe, the award-winning, family-run restaurant has a cosy dining room with a roaring open fire and down-to-earth staff. Head Chef Anthony Jones has created a classic British menu using seasonal produce. Fresh fish is delivered to The Old House at Home daily from Cornwall, along with beef from Scotland. Favourite dishes include the guinea fowl served with apricot stuffing and a redcurrant and Grand Marnier sauce; the spicy salmon and crab cakes with a fresh tomato and basil sauce; and the scrumptious chocolate and Bailey's cheesecake.

We were driving around Castle Combe and decided to go for an early meal in The Old House at Home. It was around 6pm so it was nice to find this popular pub / restaurant relatively quiet. We found a table by one of the nice open fires and after a drink ordered our meals. I had a prawn cocktail... More

We were in on a deal with friends. We had a lovely lunch. The Barman when we arrived was really friendly, helpful and engaging. Made it a nice friendly atmosphere. It was not busy and the food all arrived nicely cooked. We were also served some fresh bread with oil and balsamic dip while waiting.

We had a really excellent lunch, it was actually on some sort of deal, but the four of us all had different starters and main courses and they were all beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious. We will be definitely returning here.

My husband and I stopped by here for breakfast between Christmas and New Year. We found the pub to have a really lovely feel and the breakfast was fabulous (especially the black pudding!) Normally we check trip advisor before we go anywhere new but we didn't on this occasion and I'm glad we didn't! In contrast to some reviews we... More

This is a restaurant we've visited a number of times. The ambience and charm are still there and the service friendly, but something seemed to be missing. In the past I have always thought the menu imaginative, if a little overpriced. On this occasion my feeling were reversed. Not so overpriced any more but a less appealing menu. Sure, the... More

Firstly this pub is not in Castle Combe, which is 5 miles away. There should be a rule about such mis advertising especially for those that are not local. We have sadly experienced a dreadful evening here. This is meant to be a family run pub, yet no family members were there on a Friday evening. That would not normally... More

My partner and I stayed here together the other weekend. The actual pub was lovely and so was the room. We checked in about 5pm and after a shower and a cup of tea we were ready to go down for a drink and dinner. We had a table booked and when we wandered over to the restaurant there was... More

A group of 5 of us managed to make a last minute booking here and we were so glad to get in. We all had really delicious meals. The steaks were tender, juicy and perfectly cooked as was the liver and kidneys. All the staff were really helpful and very pleasant.
