Description: Think Salisbury and youll think Solstice not the mid-summer...
Think Salisbury and youll think Solstice not the mid-summer phenomenon beloved of druids but the super chic Bar and Grill at Amesburys uber-modern Holiday Inn hotel. Situated only moments from the world famous site of Stonehenge, Solstice is glamorously modern, its sleek interior anything but pre-historic. One wall is shot through with a blaze of glass, providing countryside views in the day and inky black reflections at night, while the rest of the room is bright and spacious, furnished in monochrome and lit by low-hanging chrome lamps. Despite its futuristic styling the atmosphere of the restaurant is cosy and welcoming, thanks in no small part to the professional and friendly staff who ensure your every need is met during your visit, be it a swift lunch or a leisurely dinner. From the elegance and ease of a continental style croissant and cappuccino in the morning to the hearty modern European mains of evening dinners and the comforting familiarity of burgers and steaks, plus the well-stocked bar with its excellent wine list and numerous beers, Solstice is a venue for any occasion.

We regularly come here for the Sunday carvery. Choice of 3 meats, lots of veg and lovely pork crackling! The price is for 3 courses, for starter there is a choice of salad or soup and lots of lovely desserts - they even have a chocolate fountain! Nice relaxed atmosphere, help yourself to tea and coffee and free wifi. Love... More

My partner and I were served raw chicken and when our plates were cleared the waitress returned and told us that the chef had said it was fine and that the meat was red because it was close to the bone. However it had blood dripping out of it and we are now hoping we will not be ill. Very... More

Imaginative, if quite limited, menu. Friendly service. Delicious food. Refurbished and stylish restaurant. Nice ambiance. One of the best in the local area. Recommended.

I was pleasantly surprised with the standard of food at this place. I am writing this whilst still staying here (day 2 of 4), it's that good. I have had the Fillet Steak, which was beautifully cooked, with chunky chips. I would have liked the Chucky chips to have been more 'home made' that's out of a bag, but they... More

I am a local resident in the area and have attended this restaurant on many occasions. The event nights are always fabulous, excellent food and service. Staff are always smart, efficient and always happy to help. My children particularly love the Sunday lunches here, and are always asking to go back time and time again, and we always will come... Ate here whilst staying at the Holiday Inn as it was cheaper. The breakfasts are all you can eat and are very good value for money. In the evening I had a steak but it was over cooked apart from that it was good value.

Delicious English breakfast with everything you can imagine. Fun to see the different meats and beans they eat. Didn't need lunch after all that!

Having visited the Solstice Bar and Grill a couple of times over the last 18 months or so and having been pleasantly surprised by the fayre it had to offer, I thought I would treat the other half to another dinner out and to give myself an opportunity to gather my thoughts and sample their wares for this review. Unfortunately,... More
