Stopped here at the end of a walk up Stoodley Pike. Lunchtime, so just wanted a sandwich and chips. There was a good selection of sandwich fillings and three different bread styles. Chips included in the price, which made it reasonable value. There were half a dozen hand pumps in evidence dispensing some good quality ales and ciders. If you... More

This lovely canal side pub is a two minute work from my house. This is good old fashioned classic pub fare not any of this gastopub nonsense. We went on Sunday so my nine year old had a great beef Sunday lunch with all the trimmings which she wolfed down, my veggie partner had a lovely risotto and I had... More

This pub has quickly become our most favourite haunt. It has all we could want in a pub/restaurant. Ate here again last night for my birthday and as usual, couldn't fault a thing. The food is consistently good quality and very reasonably priced and the specials menu always has something new. The food here is on a par with any... More

The pub is located between the canal and river but the restaurant area doesn't really take advantage of the location. It's a bit dingy inside so I'd go here for a drink if I could sir outside but not to eat. The food was fine but not anything special

We visited again last week on the way to a holiday in Cumbria. The pub had a bustling, friendly atmosphere. The food was not as good as our last visit at Easter. The steak and ale pie filling was bland and the tasteless vegetables clumsily presented. The previously wonderfull chips were hard on the inside and soggy on the outside.... More

Remembering a good meal three years ago when we'd also exchanged homes with a local couple, we had a week to try out several local eateries and decided to revisit the Stubbing Wharf for our first night. We scraped in with the last booking available for 8.00 pm. Most of the diners seemed to be visitors but there was a... More

We are four women who stumbled upon this pub when we came to Hebden Bridge hiking. We all enjoyed our meals. Three of us ordered the steak and ale pie which came with a lovely plate of fresh vegetables and quite a good variety too and one of us ordered the lasagna. All of us said we would eat here... More

This place has been busy every night for the past 2 weeks and we were lucky to squeeze in. Great selection of local, handcrafted beers on tap and a good menu. Good size portions and reasonably priced too. It's small and packed so can be a bit noisy, but pleasant atmosphere. A great feed after a big walk in the... More

Friendly, good beer, tasty meal. Attractive setting by the canal. It is possible to sit outside by the canal. I chose to sit inside to hobnob with the locals. Tip: book in advance - it seems to be a very popular place.
