Good beer selection available and nice bar staff, interesting building as well, comfortable and staff offer a small taste of beer if you are not sure what you want.

We were recommended to this pub by 2 young guys we met in the street - and they were quite right about getting a good beer there! An excellent range of some local and other real ales, all kept very well and at only £2.90 a pint, very good value! . Marsha, the owner, is a very pleasant lady and... More

Visiting a friend and fresh off the train from Leeds we decided to catch a quick pint in here. My initial impression wasn't great as I could smell the lavs but we ventured in to be faced with a great choice of real Ales.. We chose BettySwollocks which was exceptional. Even more special was Nelson the pub cat and the... More

A stone floor and timbers from an old English ship make this a lovely atmospheric place for a beer, wine, cocktail (I can especially recommend the Kir Royale!) or very decent coffee with or without liqueur. The welcome is warm and Marsha the owner certainly knows how to keep real ale. It is always served in fabulous condition so if... More

Called in for a couple of drinks with some friends and this pub is fantastic, especially if you like your real ales. Even though I'm a larger fan there is some nice largers too. The bar tender (tony) is very friendly and I can defiantly say he knows his drinks and the landlady is ace especially when it come to... More

Only been to this place a few times. Nice bright interior decor, staff always freindly and are forthcoming with a taste of the beer before you order. Beer selection is always good with 5-6 on cask at any time. So you can try something different each time. Bar and main pub area is comfortable.

My pal and myself visited the "Old Ship" yesterday and fully agree with all that was said - good choice of beers and an excellent lunch at £2.99 and a warm welcome from the staff and the other people in the pub.

Great little place with a good selection of local and national beers. Food only served at lunchtime but home cooked and tastes great. Friendly and warm atmosphere
