found this little gem because, while sitting out on the porch of our b&b, we saw the sme young woman go back and forth munching cookies at least 4 times a day - she had the right idea!!!!

Pan De Vida has some of the absolute best baked goods in town, awesome garlic and rosemary focaccia bread, banana bread and all kinds of delicious gooddies! Their coffee is also in my views the best coffee in town and you can have to go! The prices are a little higher than what I can afford every day, but for... More

I visited this bakery two days in a row when I was in San Juan Del Sur. The Banana cake made for an amazing breakfast choice and the flat bread with the rosemary on it was also worth the trip into town.

You're transported as soon as you walk inside the bakery. The smell hits you and you immediately fall in love with the environment. Now the bread and products.. That's the best part, it's ALL delicious

The bread and the bakeries are excellent, the only bad point is the service. The only man working there doesn t know how to say hello, thank you and goodbye, even in spanish ! We went there few times and we really feel like bothering him ! Otherwise the cinamon rolls, the garlic bread and the carrot cake were delicious.... More

I live in San Juan del sur and only come to pan de vida for the occasional loaf of bread. I would come more often if the staff were a more pleasant to deal with. The bread is good, but the service is not.

I read about Pan de Vida in Lonely Planet and then stumbled upon it while wandering through town. My friend and I decided that we should sample some goodies, and picked out a cinnamon roll, apple cake, and banana bread. And every bite of it was delicious.

A wood fired oven to bake bread?! Who would have thought you would find it in a surfer town in Nicaragua. But indeed it does exist. And the bread is wonderful. Everything from banana bread, to French bread, to cinnamon rolls. Stop in for coffee and a roll before you start your day!

We had to try this bakery after reading all the great comments about it. The banana/chocolate bread was definitely amazing, especially as it was still warm. But the chocolate muffin wasn't good at all! It tasted like nothing, which was pretty disappointing... Prices are high for local standards.

Only sampled the banana bread which was very delicious. Can't say I saw a lot of selection and prices were definitely gringo prices. But charming and proud owner. Brick oven was quaint.
