Great location on the beach

Situated right on the beach, the setting is terrific, the restaurant is pleasant and the service is attentive. The food is good and has a nice selection of seafood. My partner had the ceviche cucaracha, which he did not enjoy....he tried it as a novelty, but the fish was rubbery. His spiny... read more

The festive plantain chip/dip presentation they bring to everyone "actually" costs money! Its more glitz than glamor and now I refuse it. Also higher priced than others on the strip

An amazing price on lobster tails! Service was great and so was the atmosphere. In terms of restaurants it was cat inlay on the expensive side, but worth the splurge.

Located on restaurant row, El Timon boasts the largest deck on the beach. Great fresh local seafood. I had the grilled lobster tails and the cream of clam soup. The soup was fantastic, this from a native of New England (the home clam chowder). Prices are definitely on the steep side. This was easily the most expensive meal I had... More

We have eaten here several times over the past two years, loved the location and the food was pretty good. The last time we ate there, the waiter reached across the table knocking our daughters lunch onto the floor just after he had placed it in front of her. I watched him hit the plate with his elbow. He promptly... More

We're very sorry you had this experience, but it doesn't appear that you spoke to the manager. We are currently training many new waiters in anticipation for the high tourist season and perhaps your waiter was still unaware of our guidelines. We encourage anyone who has a less than fabulous experience at El Timon to talk to the manager. Since... More

San Juan's oldest beachfront restaurant (opened 1979) is still going strong. Was in town for a few nights, and made plans for drinks/dinner/sunset with friends who have lived in SJdS for 10+ years. While they have a few "go to" local establishments, nothing can top El Timon for their beachfront/sunset location. The happy hour prices on drinks are on par... More

Food was excellent with exception of tough pulpo. Great happy hour prices but otherwise highest in town. Very friendly and attentive staff. We will come back.

We went to El Timon on a Monday early evening to watch the sunset. They do a great offer on Monday 6pm - 9pm, a good selection of cocktails for $2.50 and appetisers for $2. The atmosphere was perfect, the sun went down, the candles were lit and fire torches went up by the tables on the beach. We had... More

Stopped at San Juan del Sur on the Island Princess and spent the entire day wandering around this interesting little village. The people were so friendly, even when walking the back streets. Decided to have lunch at El Timon and we were so glad we did. The food was very good and the location was fantastic. Sitting here eating our... More
