Great location, good ceviche

Can't argue with the location right on the main beach of SJDS. The ceviche was great as well. A little more expensive that other options in town, but you are paying for the location.

Best place to eat in San Juan del Sur. We tried many restaurants during our last stay in San Juan and kept going back again and again to El Timon, disappointed with all other restaurants. Black shellfish ceviche is delicious, and all we tried was fresh, tasty and served in generous portions. Its a little pricey compared to other places... More

Hoping I've got the right place....staff dressed in ship Captains' uniform..... Hostess really friendly! Waiters attentive. Language barrier not a problem...they work with you lol Amazing food. Wonderful ambiance. Happening atmosphere. Ate here one afternoon - had shrimp nachos. Another day, stopped here for supper - shared seafood pasta. Huge plateful! Was the only place we ate at twice!!

My husband and I enjoyed lunch at El Timon- the atmosphere is casual and laidback. Awesome location right on the beach- we had a few drinks and took in the view while we waited for our meals. The plate presentation was very nice and our meals were both tasty.

Love the seafood and ceviche. Very good service and high quality food. El Timon sets the bar in San Juan Del Sur. Great happy hour features and a great spot for the sunset. Extremely clean and well maintained.

By far the best place in San Juan del Sur to watch the sunset and have a beer! The food is well prepared and the service is outstanding.

Went here for a family meal. Atmosphere is more formal than most restaurants with the waiters in uniform and we expected higher quality food. Unlike other places in town, we left knowing we wouldn't come back. The band was fantastic and had everyone on the dance floor - best part of the experience.

My husband and I stayed in a very nice hotel, Casa Bahia, at Playa Marsella. It was located about 20 minutes outside of San Juan del Sur on a rough and rugged road. We wanted to take a taxi to San Juan del Sur to see the town and have dinner and watch a sunset at El Timon restaurant. We... More

A decent enough place but very expensive and certainly better value in sjds . We had 2 fish and chips, the fish was ok but the chips were more like uncooked wedges. It came with side salad which was lightened tasty. We were given free chips n dip which was good and a nice touch. Service whilst not unfriendly was... More

Having lived in San Juan for almost 5 years this is one of my favorite places on the beach for fresh local seafood. The happy hour menu is a fantastic value with $1 drinks and fish carpaccio.
