A good alternative for Chinese food

If you want something different from Chinese food , this is a good option. If you compare the food served in this place with any other restaurant around the world, maybe you'll be disappointed. But have in mind you are in Yunnan china, far away from western world, so this is one of the best... read more

I had two experiences at the Mekong. First was breakfast. I ordered coffee and toast. The coffee was disappointing. Typical Chinese which I could have got in my hotel. and the toast was warm dry bread, no butter, jam or anything. The second was cocktails on our last night. We ordered a mojito and a Long Island. Both were undrikable... More

I heard a lot of good things about this place, but I was kind of disappointed with the food and service. The sign claims that the staff can speak English, French, or Spanish but I couldn't find anyone there who did. Good drink selection but the food was rather bland. Got a noodle dish and fried bandannas that were both... More

Previously, I chose this place over Mei Mei Cafe (a few doors away) but I'm sad to see the demise of this place. Came here for lunch and sadly the quality in food and service has just dropped. I didn't come back the rest of the time I was in Banna.

Told it was the best place in JingHong.... As far as western fare.... Food was average at best with ok service. Much better in Dali. Staff was friendly enough but not very attentive.

Had breakfast here with the expectation of a 35 RMB breakfast to be more than a cup of tea, two small pieces of bread (that was tasty however) and a very small amount of jam which was definitely not enough. Furthermore the place advertises with speaking English, French and even Spanish. However, the waitress could only speak Chinese an couldn't... More

I spent five days in the area and quickly made this place my homebase for touristic and cybergeek operations ;) Great location with two terrasses, to chill in the back or appreciate the touristic street animation, two solid wifi routeurs and numerous electric plugs allowed an often rare autonomy to work/set up my online stuff, you can pair with great... Dreadful. Unbelievable. Disgusting. Thats all I can say for the treatment given my wife and I. The story: After reading all the other great reviews on this place we decided to make the trek and try it out. And it was a trek - few kms through the heat of the day - but we really wanted that cold beer... More

Dear guest, I have read your review with sadness, followed by increasing disbelief. I have tried to puzzle your remarks together to get to a coherent story but I have found the facts that you stated in your review so far beside anything I could imagine that I took to the footage of our CCTV system since I was not... The food is great, the owners are friendly, and the atmosphere is suburb! Two outside patios too choose from and a variety of western food and drinks on their menu, I highly suggest for any traveler passing through Jinghong to visit this great place for a bite to eat and enjoy the ambiance.

I recently relocated to Banna for work and like you always do in these situation, you look for place to buy decent coffee! A colleague told me about a restaurant called Mekong Cafe, french/chinese restaurant where you can buy really good coffee. I went there and met Gregoire the owner and Koko, the manager. Not only I bought 1 kg... More
