I travel taro undo the world for business, and I'm away from home more than 10 months every year. So finding great western style food is rare. But the food, service, selection and the atmosphere at the Mekong is the best I've ever found. Friendly staff and a warm hearted owner will make your dinning experience wonderful.

We stayed in Xinshuanbanna 4 days to relax and discover the area and we spent all our evenings at Mekong Cafe ! The food is great (I highly recommend the melt in your mouth donkey meat) the atmosphere cool and laid back, the owner and staff very friendly and everything at a very reasonable price. Gregoire the owner helped us... More

We had planned to hang out there long enough for our toddler to nap on one of the couches, but the room we picked (the one with no music) suddenly had the music cranked up after we had been there for about an hour with a kid who could not wind down :) Or maybe it was just the time... More

We visited several times during our stay as Mekong was adjacent to our hotel. Meals were available late into the evening a great place to unwind with a beer or wine. The house red by the glass was the best wine we experienced in our 35 days in China. Coco is an outstanding staff member who was always ready to... More

Better late than never! I am not a regular reviewer but couldn't fail to give this gem of a place the mention it deserves. I passed through Jinghong back in later November and called into the Mekong Café in order to plan day trips/guides etc. All the staff (between them representing most if not all of the local ethnic minority... I frequented this cafe on a number occasions during my visit in Xishuangbanna - breakfast, brunch, dinner and late night drinking. The staff were predominantly professional and friendly - especially the guy from Holland who was helping out Greg (the French owner). Coco, the lady from Dali was a great source of knowledge with excellent English. They kindly provided me... More

This place helped us get over the disappointment of the local rice noodle breakfasts. We spent Spring Festival evening here and were totally satisfied with the food. Service is very friendly and the boss has a massive reggae collection which was really helpful as it helps our baby relax. I think it would be difficult to stay in Jinghong without... More

A charming, relaxing café and restaurant, not only for a great choice of Asian and Western food, but also to feel like home. The owners Lijuan and Greg are very jovial people and help out wherever and whenever they can (hotel booking, tours, guidebooks, etc.). Both speak very good English, Greg even French and Spanish. Don’t miss to try the... More

Mekong Café is a world appart, a piece of France in the middle of Yunnan. The owner is very friendly and well travelled, always willing to share his experience and funny stories over a drink. The food is amazing and comes at a very good price. Good coffee, imported beers, good selection of music... Really all you need is there,... More
