Unexpected Pleasure

What a surprise! We had no idea that we would find such a fine German restaurant in such a small town in NE PA. But fine it was. A wide and varied menu. Good German beer on tap. Service was commendable. Our lunches were too. Wouldn't hesitate to go back. And if we spent any time in the area... read more

I just visited the grocery store. It was WONDERFUL! I felt like I was shopping in Deutschland. What with wurst, blutwurst, landjaeger, brot, kase, kohl and so much more, I felt like I had indeed found a treasure. It is just such a shame that it is so far from York, PA. I feel as though I will surely make... More

Staff made us feel like we were at home. Very friendly and accommodating. Food was absolutely delicious. Our table had schnitzel, a pork dish and salmon. Every item was delicious. Don't think you can go wrong in this place!

Each time we eat here, we swear that is the last time. Over priced average food. Great wheat beer, drink and forget the food. Thursday buffet is quiet good for the buck. You will be thrilled with it like we were for the first 3 times, then you realize the low grade of foods they serve. By the way, you... More

We've eaten here many times and have never left disappointed. Great selection of beer, German entrées, good soups, and excellent desserts. We especially love the smoked pork chops. The restaurant is welcoming and spotless. Excellent service.

We have eaten in a few German restaurants and this one is very good. They also sell meats packed on the premises..in fact, we're having some of their sausages on the grill tonight!

We were here on a Thursday so there was a buffet, it was a great way to sample different foods. After I filled my plate I realized most items were white with the exception of two of the sausages. I had pasta salad, German potato salad, cole slaw, a white sausage, two other brown sausages, sauerkraut, prime rib. The prime... More

I have been to Germany many times and I can say without qualification that the food and decor here is like going back across the ocean.

I travel a lot on business, and I love to find German restaurants, and I really love to find ones that measure up to my grandmothers' (both of them German) cooking I grew up on. The Alpine definitely does. The potato pancakes made me think my grandma K. made them. The sampler plate had a thick smoked pork chop, a... More

Took my mother here for her birthday and was served meat that had green spot. The color was obvious so waitress tried to say it was from the pickling process and that it was made that day. Obviously they were using old meat. To top things off, they would not take it off the bill, and said they would only... More
