On their last trip to Italy the Alvero staff learded how to make a gelato icecream sandwich. They bake the little round cake and you can choose the gelato to make your sandwich. It is fantastic!!

This is the only true bakery I've found in the area. The breads are exactly what you expect from an italian bakery and the smell is near heavenly. Their selection of italian cookies can't be beaten, the marzipan and pignolis are my favorites and consistent draw. You never know what other foods will be on the menu for the day,... More

They make the best cannolis and Italian cookies. Just delicious and very fairly priced. They are always friendly and day to help you with a smile. I love this place.

This place is amazing!! I've never been there for lunch but they do dinner on Fridays and Saturdays and it's phenomenal. They have a very small menu but that just means everything they make is perfect. Their osso bucco is to die for. The meatballs, pasta with garlic and olive oil, chicken cordon bleu, all of it - amazing! It's... More

Great homemade Italian cuisine. My only disappointment is that their daily menu is never the same as they have on their website. But it's owned by a great family, and I love that the entire family is engaged in this business. The food is fantastic!

The most incredible, authentic Italian food you will ever have. I do not know where to even begin with their food. Their pizza slices are the size of a small pizza and SO delicious. Yes, I seriously mean that ONE slice is the size of a small pizza and it could be a meal all in its entirety. I'm very... More

By being small the food can be good-mama makes it. But by being small it is sometimes hard to get a seat in this tiny gem in Harrisburg. The food is reasonable. The eggplant is fantastic. The bread is good. The pasta is good. I cannot wait to go back.

Simply the best food I've eaten in my life! You enter to the smells of fresh bread and pastries. Then you're overwhelmed by the aroma of the best Italian food you're ever going to eat (at least in Pennsylvania). Service is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The restaurant is clean with a romantic city atmosphere. The food, ah the food, fresh... More

I have been visiting the Alvaro family since they opened. I don't order eggplant in restaurants because it is usually fried, greasy or covered with tomato sauce. One day I asked Salvatore for the eggplant rollatini recipe and he said...first I start with homemade breadcrumbs. So I tried it and the eggplant dishes are exceptional. I love their variety of... This small eatery in midtown Harrisburg doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is excellent. The breads are wonderful and the various Italian offerings are, too. Eat-in or take out, this place is worth a visit.
