Charming, Eclectic Restaurant

Very quaint, cozy decor and atmosphere. Private dining rooms available. The bar (Whispers) is overpriced on their drinks for this area. The menu offers a fairly wide selection of unique sandwiches and dinner entrees. Dinner entrees are on the high side price wise but the sandwich selections are... read more

We went here for my wife's birthday lunch. My tofu entree was good... but my wife had a salad that was extremely stingy on ingredients. The toppings included goat cheese, blackberries, cucumbers. There were 2 small fried goat cheese medallions, 3 blackberries and 2 slices of cucumbers sliced in half. When a customers selects a salad they do it based... More

I had a great experience here. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the staff were helpful. John, the kitchen manager, worked with me to make my reservation a very special one!

Eight of us got together for a mini reunion of church friends. The Hartwood was amazing! It has a lovely, quaint atmosphere with an extremely attentive staff & outstanding food! Everything was perfect. I would highly recommend it for couples, groups or families. A wonderful menu, service & atmosphere combined with super efficient, friendly staff makes for just the dining... My family planned a surprise 50th anniversary luncheon at the Hartwood Restaurant. The food was excellent and so was the service. Our server couldn't do enough for us. The décor of the restaurant was very beautiful. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Ate her for a work team dinner. A little hard to find, but GPS got us there fine. Welcomed in by very nice hostess and had a back room to ourselves. The building is a nice old house (or inn), very nice layout. Our server was friendly and offered many suggestions. Really helpful as many of our group we not... More

Had Billy's fish sandwich with Mahi - Mahi with lump crab on it. GREAT. Dessert was Peppermint snow ball - vanilla ice cream rolled in crushed peppermint and topped with hot carmel. Tasty.

Let's begin with ambiance. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming feel to it (with book shelves lining many walls). Moving on to the menu, it is varied with something to please almost any taste. Of particular interest is an appitizer - - Crabmeat Hoezell (sp?). Excellent! And, speaking of excellent, the waitstaff is efficient, informative and friendly. Particularly Jennifer Vogel.... More

I have dined here several times with friends, my spouse and my children. We love to sit outdoors when the fire place is on. The pub side has a beautiful historic stained glass window, a charming bar, large booths and high tables. The restaurant seating is perfect for a more formal experience as you sit in what was once a... More

We planned an early holiday gathering with our large, extended family who traveled to Pittsburgh from all over the US to celebrate with us.The Hartwood was our choice for our dinner party which consisted of nineteen adults.
