Ventured up to the Carts Bog Inn on a quiet Tuesday evening, good job we booked in advance as it was quite busy, always a good sign. We got seated a lot earlier than we'd booked which was nice but we yapped so much we probably didn't order any earlier haha. Bit disappointed there was none of the famous Bog... More

We were recommended to try the Carts Bog Inn by the owners of the nearby Fairshaw Rigg B&B, and it proved to be just what we wanted: good pub food in a friendly, informal atmosphere. Two of us chose the Bog Pie, which was meaty and substantial - I recommend it!

After yomping up and down the hills at the nearby Plankey Mill we arrived at this splendid country pub. The bog pie was magnificent, succulent pieces of beef and mushrooms in a heavenly gravy. The Whitby Scampi was also cooked to perfection. Our spaniel dog was also welcomed in the bar area. Service was spot on.

I rang on the morning to make a booking for that afternoon, and they were very helpful, got our party of 3 in at a nice slot. I think they do sunday lunches at two different slots early/late as they closed at 4pm. Car park was nice and full so that's a good sign, it was our first visit there.... More

The Carts Bog was suggested to us as somewhere to eat which was above the average pub meal - how right they were! The car park was full which is always a good sign. The friendly welcome and attentive staff made for a pleasant evening with great food, the meals are well prepared and very tasty and are generous portion... More

We went in a group of three for Sunday lunch, booked slightly late to get our preferred time but glad we accepted second choice. One beef and one pork Sunday lunch and one suet pie were all good quality and substantial portions. All plates were cleaned as they were excellent. For sweet a chocolate torte and cherry-offee pie also went... More

Starters were very tasty and well sized and all tasted home made. The presentation was very imaginative and full of colour and flavour. The inside of the Bog Inn was full of rustic charm and the outside area for kids to run around was nice. A few flavoursome Ales were well received and the Pino Grigio was tasty according to... More

Fantastic country pub with really good quality food and great atmosphere. Ideal location to get away from it all, yet only 10 minutes drive from Hexham. Would recommend to anyone, business or pleasure.

Great food and ambience, if you want a good traditional style meal in informal surroundings, this is a great place. Have had a couple of meals here and have been impressed with the quality of the food and service. The meat dishes were cooked perfectly and served with fresh vegetables. Just make sure that you go with a good appetite... More
