Great food, mixed service, but happy surprise for this area of town

The SETTING: Four (4) visits over a 10-week period with coworkers NOTE: This review is for the Sushi area, not the Hibachi area The Vibe - 4 stars - first of, we are talking about Jenkintown, PA. It's just really that good! The sushi is always fresh and delicious with interesting specials. Love the hibachi and the kids' get a real kick out of the antics that take place during cooking. Service is always friendly and prompt.

We had heard how good the food was here for a while. We did the hibachi section. The waitress and the chef were very nice. Everything, however, tasted the same. All the same flavor, smokey and sweet. We simply could not eat it. We won't be back.

This spot in Doylestown used to be another Japanese restaurant before Ooka. It was called Tokyo D and it was wonderful back then. I think Ooka is a chain owned by Madame Butterfly. Madame Butterfly is now closed in Doylestown but I must say that I ate there once and enjoyed it. But back to Ooka. I've been to their... More

We've eaten here many times and have never had a bad meal. Their sushi is delicious and fresh. Moreover, the kids are always entertained by the hibachi chefs. Personally, I think the food is better at the Doylestown location than the Montgomeryville one. Nevertheless, you can't go wrong at either location. Aesthetically, I think the Montgomeryville location is much nicer.

The family came here this weekend. Everything was delicious, very tasty and a good presentation. The place is right off the road and my only negative is the portions were somewhat small. But very good.

Ooka is a staple in our dining out. We have been there many times, and Gary was one of the best chefs we ever had. The food is always good, but half of the fun is the mastery of the chef preparing your meal and this has slowly been disappearing and support staff (thy really only take your order and... More

The staff was good but the food was nothing special. I guess that I like just simply grilled hibatchi veggies and meats as opposed to- too many sauces which were splashed on. I felt like the food tasted more like Chinese food than Japanese food. I was sorry that I didn't try the sushi though. I heard that it is... More

A fun dining adventure that is worth trying. The hibachi table cooking is as entertaining as it is delicious. Advance reservations usually a must.

Go to Ooka over 50 times a year. Everyone loves it! Fresher than fresh Susi and Shashimi. Also an entertaining habachi which the grandkids love!
