Outstanding

The Lamplighter Restaurant is an old familiar face on Rt 22 for many years. The building has three parts. There is a dining room, which offers live entertainment a coffee shop and a motel. My sister and I had lunch in the coffee shop. The room was bright ,clean, and comfortable. Our server was very... read more

Lamplighter's used to be a favorite that we visited every year we were in town -- last time we were there it was terrible! Service was really slow but we weren't in any rush so I'm not dinging them for service. But the food was awful. We both ordered Filet Mignon. My husband's dinner arrived but mine did not. Apparently... More

The Lamplighter is one of those old "landmark" roadside restaurants in the outer suburbs of Pittsburgh. Our small group had dinner in the coffeeshop section. The best you can say of the decor is well-worn. We, unfortunately, weren't there during the "specials" hours. If we had been, we might not have been as disappointed, since we could have saved some... The Lamplighter was always a favorite place to eat growing up. Went to a concert and buffet last night. The owner was checking us in and did not welcome us in any way. I said we had reservations for 3. My sister and I were standing at the desk while my husband was hanging up coats. The owner growled at... More

Tough to beat breakfast at these prices. Pancakes are the size of the plate (have the blueberry), large serving of house made oatmeal, eggs done to your liking (ask for Gary), homemade rye toast is wonderful. Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream is more like dessert. Anna Marie is the best waitress you will come across any where!

Sundays they offer a buffet, breakfast until 12:30 and Dinner from 1 until 5 pm. We hit the afternoon session and arrived around 3 pm. Looked like we picked a good time because there was hardly anyone in the dining room. We were seated promptly and ordered our drinks and we were told to help ourselves. They were offering sliced... Very good meal, I had French toast with a side of bacon. The bread was cinnamon swirl is the only way I can describe it. Different for me. My fellow diner had the country breakfast and it had everything, juice, pancakes, eggs etc... I was involved eating my own so I didn't pay too much attention to it. I do... More
