In short, the food is not good, but the staff are absolutely fantastic. I’d eat there again to interact with these wonderful people, but I would bring my own food along. We stopped in for a quick sit-down dinner on the way from DC to Pittsburgh. This is the reason Breezewood exists. Our party of four were seated immediately, and... More

The Gateway Restaurant has a fairly large variety of food offered on their menu. We arrived at 7:00-PM on a Friday night, and while the restaurant was not full, there seemed to be a shortage of wait staff. It took nearly 30-minutes before our food was served. It was warm; not hot. Tasted OK. Several (5+) of the used, empty... More

You can eat it. The buffet is convenient. It's an easy pick for a group of travelers. Something for everyone.

This place reminds me of a local diner in a small town. Even though it's in a travel plaza, I thought that just added to the charm. My boyfriend and I both got an egg sandwich on toast and hash browns for breakfast. It really was delicious food and filled us up. The waitress was semi-pleasant, she was not rude... More

A friend and I were on our way to acme and stopped in Breezewood for lunch. We opted for Gateway since it was the only non-chain around and we had breakfast - she had steak and eggs, I country fried steak and eggs. The food took a long time to be served. I presume it was because it was cooked... More

We asked to hotel to direct us to a non chain restaurant ansd this was it. Although it is in a travel plaza everything was good. Food was hot,and out to the table quickly. Felt bad for the servers because a couple buses came in and only left minimal tip, since they were all on seperate checks. We couldn't help... More

As others have written here, Gateway Restaurant is a truck stop with a family style restaurant and you won’t find anything fancy here. We travel the PA Turnpike frequently and would always stop here for a hot, satisfying, home-style dinner from the hot buffet. A special treat is the vegetable beef soup. Our last visit was the evening of 3/25/12... More

Had lunch here on December 12th on our way to Virginia. Although you can order off the menu, I don't recommend that if you are traveling and are at all time constrained.... as the kitchen can be somewhat slow. The atmosphere is typical trucker / road stop, and the waitresses were only so-so. Most people seem to be ordering the... More

We had a variety of burgers and sandwiches and sides, and everyone seemed happy with what they got, plus the prices were reasonable and the service was good. So I was gonna go with 4 stars. But then about 2 hours later, I had awful (how to put this delicately) intestinal problems. And I hadn't eaten anything else all day.... More
