Charming ambiance and excellent food

Dined here on Valentine's Day. Our server was attentive and personable, wish I remembered her name! We started with the oyster stew, the special of the day. Our salads were fresh and the dressing was served on the side without us asking. My husband ordered the elk loin- I sampled it and it was fantastic! so tender, and the cider... More

While at Penn State for a sporting event, we chose Duffy's Tavern for Saturday evening's dinner. We had a reservation for 6:30pm. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated immediately. Our server was attentive and took time to answer several questions about the menu. There were three of us and each one of us was thoroughly satisfied with... More

You often forget about the places right in your backyard. The food here is great. While the service was slow (we sat barside so our waitress was also bartender), we understood & didn't mind. The food came out in good time. The brie was delicious to start. I ended up only getting the french onion soup, but couldn't help but... More

After a 40 minute drive to try someplace new, we were not disappointed. My wife and I had a great meal with great service. She enjoyed the seafood crepe and I the chicken saltinbucca. Both came in a unique presentation and were as good as they looked. the soups were excellent. This old country building is loaded with charm and... More

We heard about Duffy's Tavern from friends in the area and decided to give it a try. It is in the town of Boalsburg (not far from State College) and is in a quaint looking neighborhood. The restaurant is in an old Tavern Style house with dining areas in several rooms including a heated enclosed porch area. We arrived around... More

I have to admit this is a restaurant close to where we live that we tend to forget about when choosing a place to eat. It has probably been a 3-4 years since we were there last and decided to go the other night. I am glad we did! We had a delicious meal! My husband had one of their... More

I've eaten at Duffy's Tavern many, many times over decades, and in recent years it had gone WAY downhill. But gave it one more try and it is much better. Wait staff still not well trained, but food was very good -- way better than it had been. Ambience remains great, but could use a bit of a refreshment. Overall,... More

Wonderful atmosphere and food. The staff is very attentive. It looks like a real colonial tavern. The village of Boalsburg is very quaint and quiet.

We were traveling home from big football weekend at penn state. Traffic was awful so we decided to take a lunch break at duffys. It was great. We sat at the bar and chatted with other patrons. Our lunch was superb. I had the tuna with oriental sides. The best! Husbands lamb was good too. And Rachael our bartender server... More
