Fair enough, everyone wants to go Mexican on Cinco De Mayo so you have to expect some delays but what they did here was way over my "acceptable" for a holiday standard. As a general rule I do not like to eat out on "special days" because quite often menus are curtailed and/or pricing reflects an up charge. El Sarape... More

This is one of our favorite local restaurants. Great margaritas and an authentic Mexican menu that never disappoints. Attentive service and reliably excellent food. You cannot go wrong with this one!

El Sarape is a very small place with nice ambiance. It is however very expensive for a Mexican restaurant. Had the Rejones Ahodhes appetizer. Taste was good but it was barely warm when it was brought out. Had the Mexican jumbo which was two very small cheese enchilada, one even smaller bean burrito and a chicken tostada. Been burrito was... More

Small = less noisy but make a reservation. Upscale = Expensive even for good Mexican food. Chips and salsa are not free. Guacamole Real or Queso Fundido = great starters. Tampiqueña = Tops for taste. Green or red hot sauce, mole sauce(the best I've had), bean sauce or mild sauce = all great. Margaritas = worth the price. The bill... More

A Mexican restaurant in Montgomery Co. Pa? That's what this restaurant is. If you want more authentic upscale Mexican food, which this place is not, you need to go elsewhere. We love Tequila's in downtown Philly. El Serape is a small place with a small bar. The people were nice but the service was not what I would expect with... More

I took my husband to El Sarape for his birthday last night, as we're new to the area and have driven by a couple of times and our friend knows the owner. The place is small, dark, and was packed when we arrived around 7:45. We thought this was a good sign given that it was a Thursday. We ordered... More

I loved this place, and have been dining there for years. Sadly, went there for dinner on Friday and it has gone downhill. For one, the house margarita had very little tequila. I usually get a buzz from one, and didn't get one this time. For $10, put some liquor in it! Secondly, the service has gone down, too. There... More

This is the real deal Mexican food. Quaint little restaurant. The fish is always fresh, the fundito brings back memories of many visits to Acapulco years ago. Margaritas to guacamole to flan...a good choice.

We had driven past this restaurant for years and had always thought that we should stop here for dinner, but never did. Finally on a rainy Friday night be decided to do it and stopped by for dinner. We were warmly greeted by the lady at the front door who welcomed us and made us feel very comfortable. She nicely... More
