A step back in time

Amish families (and almost everyone else) eats here. There is a large menu and the option of a smorgasbord or a smaller version of the smorgasbord that is for soup and salad. I chose the soup and salad bar. The salad was fresh, colorful and crispy -- it was about the best I have ever seen. I... read more

Food was below average at best. Nothing really tasted good. Soup was the best. Prices high for what you get. You can find something better if you drive 15 minutes or so. I wanted to support local (non-chain) restaurant but I would have been better off going to a chain restaurant. No one in party of six was happy about... More

Thank you for your feedback. While I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the soup, I am sorry that the rest of your experience was unsatisfactory. We strive to provide a quality dining experience with farm fresh ingredients that the chain restaurants cannot provide. I hope that you will give us another chance in the future. More

Are you hungry? Then Bird in Hand Family Restaurant is for you. We were quickly seated and our server Linda was there in a flash to explain the smorgasbord routine and get our drink orders. We started off with soup ~ Chicken Corn, Vegetable Beef, or Chicken Rice. Tough decision so I opted for Chicken Corn and Vegetable Beef. Both... More

First time visit. Very nice atmosphere, and nice little gift area. You have a choice of ordering from the menu or having the buffet. Food choices were good if you could eat anything, but nothing for eating GF. The server was no help at all. It was too late to order breakfast, so I ordered the sausage ( plain), the... More

You may order from the menu or have the buffet. We have done both. Check the buffet to see what items are being offered, since it changes. The food is good and homestyle. Nothing fancy here. The soup, salad and bread buffet is nice, if you are not extremely hungry. Large open room with booths along the wall.

For $14.99 (less $2 if you get a coupon from the tourist center) the food is truly worth it! Not a lot of main dish choices but the broasted chicken and ham meatballs made it worth our whiile! The salad and desert bar are definetely to die for!

Have eaten here on other occasions and it does not disappoint. You have the option of either eating off the menu or the buffet. We chose to eat off the menu. Had a cup of the cream of cauliflower soup and the patty melt and my spouse had the pot pie casserole and their were all delicious. We topped off... More

My daughter and I went to Fillmore Container to purchase cases of mason jars for her upcoming wedding and found that Bird in Hand Family Restaurant was just around the corner and down the street. I had been here as a child with my family and I was happy to be able to eat here with my daughter. We both... More

Thank you for letting us know about your meal. I'm glad you enjoyed the hot bacon dressing. Most of our salad dressings are made from scratch. Our building will be undergoing renovations later this year and a bathroom expansion is in the plans. We look forward to seeing you again. More

Enjoyed lunch at Bird-In-Hand Restaurant. 4 friends met for lunch. Two had the buffet and two ordered off the menu. I had the ham steak, masked potatoes and french fries. Another had the pork and saukerkraut - almost too much pork. Sauerkraut was slim pickings. Real mashed potatoes and fresh cut french fries. I didn't order the buffet as I... More
