Great Place to 'go back in time'. To get a real feel of the 1700's eat in the dinning room (in the basement). First time my wife was there she loved it. I have been there many times. As much as my wife and I travel from Pgh. to Gettysburg we always pass it when on the turnpike. For years... More

Recently I had a mid-afternoon dinner at the Jean Bonnet Tavern. It is an historic Inn and Tavern built in the mid 1700s and still retains its unique frontier ambiance. Although there is a bar on the first floor with an outside patio that serves tavern food, there is fine dining on the ground floor with a varied and delicious... More

Outstanding ambiance! Lighting filters should be installed at dining room entrance. Takes five minutes to adjust eye sight upon entering. Food is generally very good but it needs help. An example is the salmon salad: Portion of greens is too small, white mushrooms should be replaced with an enoki mushroom, hard boiled egg or pickled egg is needed, croutons would... More

We have seen the tavern from the PA Turnpike for more years than I can count and finally had the opportunity when travelling from State College to Bedford. The tavern is on the National Historic Register, dates from the early 1760s, and is located at an important crossroad of that time on the Old Forbes Road, the only road from... More

As a local, I am lucky to have this jewel at my convenience. They offer 2 floors of dining: upstairs is more of a pub setting- seating at booths or tables, a large fireplace and beautiful wooden bar. Downstairs is set for more "formal" dining. A little quieter than upstairs, with a large fireplace. The same menu is available upstairs... More

This is a National historic landmark. The Whiskey Rebellion began right outside. The building is amazing, I believe built in 1762. You can see it from the PA turnpike. They have a great shopping area with very neat items for great prices. The food is Excellent with a good wine and beer selection. Ask your server about the ghosts ......

My husband and I stop at Jean Bonnet if we are anywhere near the Bedford area (we will even make a special drive from Somerset). The tavern is nice during the winter but we enjoy the porch the most during the warm climate. On our first visit there, one of the staff gave us a photo book to look through... More

My wife and I stopped by to eat at the Jean Bonnet near Bedford after a trip to State College, PA this weekend. My wife ordered the crab and corn chowder and I ordered the French onion soup. Both were piping hot, seasoned well, and delicious. My wife ordered the turkey salad special and was informed about 10 minutes after... More

Had to review again because in the last review I praised the onion soup. I don't know what happened, maybe it was a new cook or an off day, but the soup was awful! Way too sweet. My friend and I couldn't eat it. It was also much darker than usual. Everything else was fine, but the soup was a... More

This restaurant/inn was built in the 1700's, it's beautiful inside and the food is very good. Although they don't have a huge menu everything we have had there so far has been very tasty and a very nice staff. Weekends are usually busy so I recommend calling for a reservation. And to add to the fun of this place....it's known... More
