We were staying at the Bedford Resort & wanted to go outside of the resort for dinner so we decided on Jean Bonnet. The scallops wrapped in bacon appetizers were to die for as well as the crab cakes. We both had the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly rare as ordered. The waitress was very friendly & the price... More

I've often seen this restauraunt from the Turnpike as we were approaching Bedford, and we finally had the chance to try it. It is over 200 years old (pre-Revolution) but is well kept up and really nice inside. We chose to eat in the tavern section upstairs (regular menu is available). There were quite a number of Pennsyvania beers on... More

My wife and I were recently on a business trip to Bedford. Normally I research restaurants on Trip advisor before we depart, making a list of must visit establishments. Jean Bonnet was on the top of the list. Right after checking into our hotel we set out to Jean Bonnet for lunch. The property was beautiful and well maintained. The... More

The whole experience at the Jean Bonnet was wonderful, from the 1700's construction to the appetizers and the main courses. We don't get there often enough but the experience is very special when we do. Food and prices were great and the ambiance is terrific.

Nice, historic atmosphere. We enjoyed the Bison burgers which were very good. Also enjoyed the crab and corn chowder. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Recommend reservations as we had to wait about 30 minutes since we did not have reservations. Worth the wait. Will return when we are back in the Bedford area.

On our road trip to Virginia Beach we saw this place and decided to give it a try. It was fantastic! Definitely worth the little drive off the highway.

This is such a lovely, historic place. We have enjoyed dinner here the past two summers. It would definitely be a 5-star if the service was not so slow, and if my friend's dinner did not have to be sent back because it was cold. Both of these are issues that management should clear up. That is the bad news.... More

Enjoyed a great family lunch in the historic setting. We had a diverse group and tastes, but everyone enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Nice little gift shop adjacent to the restaurant. Good food in a unique setting makes this place a winner.

The hotel sent us to this historic tavern. The atmosphere was great. The staff was great and the food was unexpectedly first rate. Everything was fresh served hot, and nicely presented. When traveling out that way, we will make it a regular stop.

Service can be a little slow, and food is good but not gourmet pub fare. But we love this place! Great ambiance, roaring fires in the big stone fireplace in the winter. Very cozy. Nice outdoor patio in warmer weather--although the road noise may convince you to eat inside. Love the history of the place. The little gift shop is... More
