Best Hawaiian local food on the mainland

I may be gluten free so local Hawaiian food is pretty much off limits for me but i took a friend who lived in Hawaii for 12 years and she said it was the "best outside of Hawaii". It is a little hole in the wall and kind of tucked in off of a strip mall but if you are... read more

Fresh in town for a conference and much to my delight I find that Roxy's is on the lake right near the Century Hotel. Ono (delicious) food, friendly folks, outdoor seating near the lake. What a gem. What a find. Had the shoyu chicken because of reviews here and was very happy. Next time, kalbi short ribs. Bonus is they... More

If you've been to other locations for Roxy's Island Grill, you won't be surprised by the food selections. If you come in expecting standard terryiaki, though, you're probably going to be surprised. You may not end up liking what you get, of course, but you might still end up being surprised. The drink selection here sucks. It does at every... More

If you want some good Hawaiian food this is the place to come. The food is always good (we have tried many different dishes and haven't found one we dislike yet) and the portions are very large (we can get two different orders and feed 4 people reasonably). During the summer this place can get busy with everyone at the... More

Let me first start by saying, I have tried hawaiin food at close to every hawaiin place in the portland metro area and this blows every one out of competition. To tell you how much I love their food, I will drive a 30-40 minute drive from my city just to get this for lunch or dinner! I order the... More

Great place to go if you are in need of a Hawaiian food fix. I had the garlic chicken and it was really good. We got there before the crowd arrived, and the service was just a tad slow but all in all, very good. I would definitely go back again and try something else, like maybe the shoyu chicken.

I've been to both NoHo's and Aloha Grill. Both are great, but I think Roxy's has forged ahead for the win. Hawaiian was not my favorite food in the world (I didn't really get the hype), but oh man, if it's done right--YUM. First off, I'm super picky about chicken, so I don't usually order it out. Instead, I stick... More

If you love Hawaiian food then you need to try Roxy's. Their yummy shoyu chicken will have you running back for seconds and their mac salad is killer. I have been to Hawaii a handful of times and eating here brings back all those memories of the sun & surf.

Teri chicken and beef, macaroni salad, saimin, Korean chicken and even kalua pork! If you miss your plate lunch with two scoops of rice, this is the place to go!

Portions were generous. The staff are reminiscent of friendly Polynesia. The meat is very good. The rice and macaroni are so-so. The ambiance is typical fast food place, with a twist. Prices are average, nostalgia included.
