feeling pretty strong about this one

The atmosphere is great. The food it hit or miss though, and I have an example. The cheese and smoked salmon appetizer has great salmon with a good sized portion, but the cheese is just swiss and cheddar deli slices. AND the dish is priced at $18!! No, no, no, you can't disappoint like that... read more

Excellent place to eat along the Sandy River outside of Troutdale. The building has loads of character, like an old log cabin with beautiful woodwork on the inside, and Shirley the owner is like a local Icon. It is fun to have her rattle off the menu by heart which she knows so well, with such unique descriptions and salesmanship.... More

The drive to get there is very relaxing through tree lined roads and follows along the river. Second, the place itself is funky and I recommend eating outside, it was mostly shaded and had a great atmosphere. We ordered lunch-the BBQ turkey and BBQ ham and cheese. Both were very tasty and served with hot and perfect fries. Our waitress,... More

Great food, way too big portions, excellent staff. It's all good! If you are visiting Portland, this may be too far off the beaten trail, but if you are headed to the falls, it's right on the way so stop in early for breakfast.

OK, as this was my 1st visit to Oregon, and not having any idea what to expect, I went here with my brother, his wife, and my family. I sorta expected a dive, based on the location: it wasn't in appearance, but it was in food quality, especially for the price (which is horribly expensive for the quality you receive).... More

First thing that was said to us when we walked in the door was "kids will need to stay in their seats at all times" which struck me as rude. I don't allow my children to run amuck in public as a general rule and certainly didn't need a greeter to tell me so. we seated ourselves and waited 10... More

We also wanted to try this restaurant because we saw it on TV. We actually went for dinner and not lunch. We didn't recognize anything on the menu and asked our waiter what Guy Fieri ate while there. He told us the sandwiches he had tried and told us it was on the lunch menu. The dinner menu had a... More

We decided to eat here because it had been on The Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. It did not disappoint. The Hungarian, a roast beef sandwich with peppers and onions and spectacular au jus was the best I ever had. The clam chowder is excellent as are the hand cut fries. If you are traveling through the Colombia River... More

Worst breakfast I've ever had. I took two bites of undercooked biscuits. I mentioned the problem...they took the food back and still charged me for that. This was our second time here. Similar experience the first time...we'd hoped it was just an off day the first time. It wasn't. We will not be returning.

Shirley was our server and wow does she have a gem here in Oregon! The menu is incredible and the food is even better. The portions are gigantic! I would be here everyday if I was a local. Hope to be back someday!
