I visited two Gustavs restaurants in the Portland area. One in Milwaukie and the other in Tigard. Happy hours at the bar are great. I'm not a German food fanatic but Gustav is always good and great prices. I sincerely recommend this restaurant. The service is always excellent.

Normally I am not one who will give a restaurant 5 stars. I can always find something wrong. Not this place, The food was great, the service was spectacular and there was just enough wait time to finish your appetizer. Now to the beer. If you cannot decide on one, get the sampler. Drink them all. Just a very good... More

Our son and his wife have moved to Tigard from Portland. When I visit them I am always looking for good restaurants. There is a plethora of excellent venues in Portland. Now it is time for me to seek other pastures in the Tigard area. While perusing the internet I came across excellent advertising for Gustav's. I will be their... More

Recently we discovered Gustav's for some good German food. It has now become our favorite restaurant in the Portland area. Always excellent service and the best German food this side of Deutschland. Their strudel is unbeatable.

We came here for an anniversary dinner. When I made the reservation I was asked if it was a special occasion. When we seated the server offered us a complimentary drink. We explained we don't drink. We had a nice dinner except for one thing. The salad was nice but the tomato was so diced, very small, we couldn't pick... More

Gustav's has many options to choose from and everything is very good. I can highly recommend any of their bratwursts or snitzels. They also have excellent fondue.

We have come here for years We love the lental soup, potato pancakes, spaetzle, and veal. Also the only place to get an Optimater this time of year.

While traditional German cuisine is fading in favor, Gustav's does an admiral job in keeping it alive. From their extensive menu we opted for sausage platters...select 2 or 3 from a list of 5...from traditional fresh bratwurst to wild boar with apricot and cranberry. Served up with warm potato salad, sauerkraut and red cabbage and, of course, some fine German... More

First, our server was good, friendly, and knowledgeable, yet overall service was poor. The kitchen may need reinforcements, as well as the bar. We ordered from a selection of real German beers, and given the choice between a half liter (@ 16 oz.) and a stein (larger mug), I ordered a stein. The server came back to tell me that... More

Tasty, rich, German food. Be ready to spend a bit of time if it is busy at all. The food is great. The staff is friendly. A fun place for a group to meet.
