Excellent food and service was great. I stop on occasion for business lunches and always a favorite. Historic Building, Can get busy at lunch so getting there a bit before noon or closer to 1pm, no wait.

This is not a cheap place to eat however the food is worth the price. We had a wonderful feature cream soup , Caesar salad, Rubin sandwich and stuffed mushrooms. All was wonderful. Service was great. It is hard to find as we stayed off hi way and this place is downtown.

We ate here in Jan 2016, and enjoyed it greatly! The food was excellent, service even better, and the atmosphere was historic. Worth looking for it, a block north of the main drag. There was a piano player on a balcony who has been playing there for 22 years! Try the Chicken Pot Pie, delicious!

Worn from a long winter trip over Satus Pass, we stopped at the Baldwin Saloon, hopeful for a good dinner. My tastebuds were rewarded with a well-prepared filet cut steak, yummy sautéed Brussels sprouts, and the best Obrien style potatoes. Salad dressings are all prepared in-house and tasty. My appreciation ran deeper as they were able to accommodate my dairy... More

We had a good lunch this last Monday. The sandwiches we good size but, got soggy as we ate. My prime rib was tender and delish. Hubby said his was good and mom took half of her French dip home. The bread and fries were made on site. The stuffed dates were amazing. Wish we'd had room for dessert. Next... More

The Baldwin is an old The Dalles building now housing a great restaurant and bar (and, because it's somewhat remote, rural, and economically challenged, The Dalles doesn't boast many truly great restaurants). The owner, Mark, has decorated the place with an abundance of nineteenth-century paintings, many of the region. Sam (short for Samantha) is a terrific bartender. The menu is... More

We picked the Baldwin Saloon based on good reviews online. I do think it was the best option for dinner in The Dalles, but that doesn't mean I'd rush to head back. It took a couple of tries to get my martini right (it's just a martini - is it so hard?). Our waitress was new - she was super... More

We enjoyed our steaks which were all cooked perfectly. The restaurant was very busy at 5:30 but by 7:00 it had emptied out. It's a nice place to sit and chat and has a great bar.

We were staying down the road and we stumbled into the Baldwin Saloon--and what a lucky choice that was. The old saloon atmosphere is complemented by an amazing number of appropriate oil paintings covering the wall (including the obligatory full sized reclining nude over the bar). The menu was extensive as was the wine list. My salmon was delicious and... More
