Growing up in Central Oregon I heard about the cowboy dinner tree but hadn't experienced it. The descriptions describe the experience well and what to expect . Total chuckwagon throwback place! Sirloin steak better than expected and service was excellent. Only worthy of the drive time if you are planning adventures in the Oregon Outback, like hiking, hot springs, cycling or camping ...

We tend to visit twice per year with guests from out of town. It's the total, experience that gets the positive reviews from everyone. The atmosphere is the selling point. I don't want to diminish the food as it is good but not great. We will return.

Heard about this place for years but have never been able to get there. We were sorta in the area and called for some last minute reservations and got in on a Saturday night. Bring your appetite since the amount of food is crazy. I knew I'd be bringing most of the steak and potato as a leftover. It's in... More

If you're in the area, it's worth the drive. It's more of an experience than it is a dinner out. You can ONLY pay with CASH - so make sure you have it since you're nowhere near an ATM! Also, reservations are required. If you have the time to stay the night, they have 4-5 cabins that are quaint and... More

Cowboy Dinner Tree is definitely worth the drive into the Oregon Outback. While there is nothing nearby, it doesn't even matter, because there is nowhere else I would rather go. The rustic building, complete with leaky window from the rain storm, made the dining experience that much more special. The dim lighting was perfect, as well as the mismatched plates... More

We are so glad we made the drive from Bend to visit this unusual restaurant. Following the suggestion by friends who have eaten here, we ordered one steak and one chicken, and came home with enough leftovers for several good meals. The entire dinner was a delight, from the enthusiasm of the employees to the taste of the salad, biscuits,... More

This place is five miles from the town of Silver Lake which is very small. And Silver Lake is a long way from just about anywhere. Yet, it has supported this place for 23 years. They take only cash, you must have a reservation. The choices are steak or chicken. Better bring a cooler for your leftovers because you will... More

The Cowboy Dinner Tree is one place you have to visit. Food was a great and the rustic place is friendly and relaxed. Reservations required but its worth it. Order an extra serving of rolls when you make reservations to take with you. You will have great left overs. The steaks are huge and outstanding or choose a whole roasted... More

When some friends asked if my wife and I would like to go to dinner in silver lake, I thought they were crazy, but accepted! The cowboy dinner tree proved to be well worth the drive, the food and service was fantastic!! The setting was remarkable and for $28 a person, we had no regrets!! Btw we drove 350 miles round...
