This was my fifth visit to the Dinner Tree. Our group of eight had both chicken and beef. On previous visits the 30 oz steak was a bit fatty and tough, but good. This time however, the huge sirloin was wonderful. Tender, tasty and cooked to prefection. The dinner was family style starting with... read more

Being from La Pine, we visit at least once a year. First time there, we were taken aback when our waitress brought a second small steak out for my husband, explaining that they felt his portion was a little small. We took home all of the small one, 3/4 of mine and over half of my husbands. Enjoyed dinners for... More

I have only one thing to say. OMG!!!! Don't be put off by the looks of the outside of the building. This is without a doubt the biggest and best steak I have ever eaten.

This is a special place for an excellent meal with lots of ambiance. Located some 60 miles from LaPine, Oregon, off Hiway 31, it takes a bit of special effort to go to this restaurant. They are open Thursday through Sunday. Reservations are required and they do not accept credit cards. Bring cash. There is no alcohol available or allowed.... More

Great service, food and atmosphere! Definitely recommend. Bring an appetite and a cooler. Your will have leftovers. They hosted a family reunion dinner of 30 and made us all feel welcome.

We made reservations, and when you do, you decide if you want a whole chickend or a HUGE piece of beef. Only three (our of 9) went with the chicken. It is great food, starts with a salad, soup or beans and meat, then a little desert. No alcohol served, you can either have unsweetened ice tea, or lemonade with... More

Our group of 11 friends met there for dinner after a day of hiking Fort Rock and Derrick Cave. We were seated promptly and the feast began. Large mugs of tea and lemonade, freshly baked rolls with plenty of butter, two delicious soups, then either roasted chicken or grilled tri tip, accompanied by big baked potatoes in foil with butter... We had a lovely time at the Cowboy Dinner Tree. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun and the food was really good. It was a very fun visit! We would go back again!

Growing up in Central Oregon I heard about the cowboy dinner tree but hadn't experienced it. The descriptions describe the experience well and what to expect . This is as Rustic as rustic gets, but fun and unique experience. The food is good but not great. The portions are ridiculously huge. Bring a cooler for the left overs. But until... More
