This is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I've found. The food is good, the hosts are wonderful folks. This is where I go when I want Vietnamese food that tastes close to what I had in Viet Nam. The review that panned Saigon is spurious. Vietnamese coffee is supposed to be strong and to suggest the male host entered... More

This is our favorite place to eat in Salem. The owners both serve and cook the food so if they are busy there might be a bit of a wait. Our favorite is the noodle bowl with BBQ pork and egg roll. Another favorite are the sandwiches served on fresh rolls. Our kids consistantly order the wonton soup packed with... More

I stopped into the Saigon on Court St. this week for a quick lunch. The proprietors greeted me warmly with smiles and good cheer. I ordered one of their specialty sandwiches on a baguette called "Saigon Special Bahn Minh" and passed the next half hour relishing the meal and the peaceful interior of this small gem in Salem. I plan... More

As we ended the day from seeing the state capital with a friend we decided to go and experience this nice and quiet restaurant for a late lunch. Our friend was chating in their language over the menu items and we all had a fun time waiting even the young small kids. The couple who own the restaurant were friendly... More

I had the Saigon Special Bahn Minh. The baguette crust shattered on my first bite it was so crisp. The mix of roast pork, marinated pork, chicken, jalapeno slices, cucumber, pate, and whatever their spread is was savory mix of cool and spice. Fast service, delicious and economical for lunch at $4.50 to 5.50 for a sandwich. As Arnold says,... More

I love the buffet. First of all it does not offer so-o-o-o many things however the choices that are available are wonderful. I would rather have a great small selection that many ho-hum choices. the curry is amazing. I am not a tofu fan but when i went for seconds, i chose the tofu over the chicken because it was... More

OK, the truth is, I had no idea what bahn mi was but I am glad I found out! I went to Saigon Restaurant for lunch with a friend who introduced me to this delicious Vietnamese sandwich. I had the #3 roasted pork bahn mi which had cucumbers, carrots, fresh sliced jalapenos, lemon grass, roasted pork and a savory red... More

My girlfirend and I dropped in for lunch and the first thing you notice upon entering this restaurant is that it's dark. We soon discovered that this is not the only cost saving measure employed by these bottom line only conscious owners. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my girlfirend ordered beef soup noodles and Vienamese coffee. The coffee... More

The pho here is VERY salty, with a few unusually thick pieces of beef. The banh mi sandwiches are a safe bet, at $3.75 for a 12" baguette with choice of meat or lemon grass tofu. Buffet offering was not appealing. For tastier soups (and a wide array of other dishes), I recommend Kim Huong - 2950 Silverton Rd NE... More

Although I frequently travel through the Northwest and make my semi-annual visit to Salem, I found Saigon Restaurant from Google and stopped by for Dinner. The atmosphere was very comfortable and pleasing and the owner couple were very sweet, but most importantly my dinner was very delicious. I tried the famous Vietnamese "Bun Thit Nuong", which is vermicelli with grilled... More
