Amazing Pot Stickers

A friend of mine says that this is the best Chinese restaurant in Salem. I would have to agree that it is quite good. I absolutely fell in love with the pot stickers. They are like no other kind of pot sticker that I have tasted. So soft and delicious! The chef or perhaps the owner came out to... read more

We have been loyal customers for years. I don't know if Mrs. Kwan and the staff were having a difficult evening, but from the moment we walked in, this was not a good experience. We had to wait 20 minutes for our order to be taken and mine wouldn't have been taken at all if I hadn't stopped the server... More

Decor is like something out of a Quentin Tarantino movie, we were delighted by the giant Buddha in the lobby, and are great fans of the unique and unusual; however, on the day we visited (about 1:30pm on a Sunday) there was a long line as for some reason there was only one person working front of house and she... I've been going to Kwan's for over 30 years. As a young single woman, I would splurge the Friday after payday once a month for dinner out and Kwan's was my favourite place to go as I felt very comfortable there dining alone. He and his wife, Bo, are like old friends. He often suggests a new dish for me... More

Strawberry Chicken? I chose the Chop Suey because I like it but I will be back to try some of the other tantalizing items on the menu. The chop suey was filled with interesting vegetables besides the customary celery, onions, bean sprouts, etc. The iced oolong tea was excellent. My son had a szcheuan dish that was also excellent. Mr.... More

The best wor wonton I have had was at Kwan's. Mr. Kwan is very proud of his creation and says loyal customers will come in from out-of-town especially for this masterpiece! The order is big enough for up to four diners but I ordered it for myself with the thought of bringing at least half of my bowl home for... More

Kwan's has been around for a long time and my friend's grandmother likes to go there everytime they are in town. I go for the company because I really don't care for their food. I have been there four times and have been disappointed each time. Even the egg flower soup was not great. On the brighter side, I've always... More

I am just going to start off with suggesting that you AVOID this place completely!!! And go to Lum Yuen. The prices are ridiculous for the terrible taste and size portion. There is no tea. The egg flower soup had no egg in it. It was more like broth with raw carrots in it. The rice was gross and hard.... More

They will not sub anything on the menu. We wanted a differenct kind of rice. Would not budge. So we got up and left. The owner asked us what the problem was as we were leaving, and they said that was their policy. I said for maybe $.25 cents, they lost a $30 dinnner. Won't be going back. We have... More

I cook Chinese food and visit Chinese restaurants wherever I travel. Kwan's was a major disappointment, especially considering that it has been a success in Salem for decades. On my recent visit with a friend, we ordered two seemingly very different dishes and hot and sour soup. The soup was interesting, I'll say that, but completely unauthentic, even tasting slightly...
