Amazing!!!! First off we had no wait, the service was extremely good and very friendly. My party had breakfast and lunch so we got a nice variety of food. I had the quinoa burger that was delicious. My daughter had the kids French toast, husband had the pasole, MIL had stuffed French toast, and FIL had corned beef. Everyone loved... More

I've had breakfast in a lot of restaurants, and I think this might be the best I've ever had. There were three of us. We each ordered something different, and all three choices were absolutely delicious. The service was not great, but very, very friendly. We were told there would be a 35 minute wait, and it turned out to... More

Friendly service. A gluten-free menu to die for! My husband had gluten free banana bread French toast encrusted with fresh hazelnuts, while I had their fresh baked bread with Oregon hazel nuts. Really yummy. If we are ever in the neighborhood again we will go back (we heard they actually have gluten free breaded fish and chips!

My friends and I are at a convention this week and are staying at the Grand Hotel. I thought it was only a 4 block walk to The Sassy Onion. It was more like 1.2 miles. However, the walk with the leaves falling from the trees on the path made it beautiful. I got the Monster Grilled Cheese and added... More

Very extensive menu. Place is looking a little run down and in need of a cleaning. Our server wasn't very attentive. Food was good but nothing outstanding.

I haven't been to the Sassy Onion in years, and was surprised to see the line out the door and a 40 minute wait last Sunday. It was a mixed crowd - fun for Salem, with some college funk as well as after-church families. The server said it's always busy on the weekends, but that this was heavier than usual.... More

I am a late comer to the Sassy Onion. Have heard about it for a long time. Waited 30 min for a table, but it was totally worth it. Had the Marionberry French Toast--best I've ever had at a restaurant! You can tell they use fresh, probably local ingredients. They do it right!

As a celiac, it is difficult to eat at restaurants with any confidence. Once such place besides Marco Polo, is Sassy Onion. Every once in a while, I have to have a hamburger with a bun. This place understands celiacs, in fact one of their quotes on the menu is celiacs are people too. After eating there and having no... More

The menu is huge and there are additional specials. Four of us enjoyed our meal very much. Carol had a seasonal peach dish with ginger sauce over biscuit, with poached eggs. She asked for the eggs with the yolks runny and they came out just right. The down side was the under ripe peach, which was hard without much flavor.... More

When I first came in I was a bit skeptical because the place didn't look very nice. Old and very outdated. However, when we got seated our server was so sweet and took great care of us. We had bacon, eggs and hashbrowns, plus a serving of their French toast. Was not impressed w hash browns, French toast on the... More
