Excellent Food-Can't go wrong with the Brisket-The best Mac & Cheese on the planet! We had 2 vegetarians in our party & they found plenty of options. The noise level is a bit loud, so I wouldn't plan on having an intimate conversation, but the atmosphere is good.

We ordered the chicken and waffles because we'd heard amazing things about it. It's enormous! it's a big sweet potato waffle with three big pieces of tender boneless white meat fried chicken. Each piece of chicken is sufficient to feed 2 persons. However, the waffle wasn't up to snuff. It was average tasting, a little dry. The exterior quickly softened.... More

Outstanding food! The specials are always a good choice but it is hard to beat the buttermilk fried chicken.

Had a great dinner and time here. The food was cooked very nicely; the fried chicken was great. I have since gone back to being vegetarian, so I don't know if I could visit again, but for the meat-lovers in search of good southern-styled food, I would think this would hit the spot. The resto was packed, so try to... More

I'd go here more if the lines weren't always so long. But the lines are long for a reason. The food -- especially breakfasts -- are terrific. The wait staff is friendly. And it's just a good place to eat and mingle.

The buttermilk-battered fried chicken is spicy, delicious and tender. I never ate a tenderer fried chicken anywhere else and not oily at all. We ordered an apple salad with goat cheese and a roasted beet salad. They are both fresh, crisp and taste great! Can't wait to go back to try their beef brisket our friendly server recommended. Service is supberb. We... More

This place really needs to be #1 in Portland. We travel about every month to Portland and let me start by saying we are foodies. We scout out every great place to eat including food carts. But every time we go we always come back to the Screen Door for at least one meal. The food is simply AMAZING!!!! It... More

If you are willing to wait at least 45 minutes for great Southern foods, you won't be disappointed. Must try the fried chicken, Mac and cheese, fried catfish and banana bread.

Great food, good prices, no reservations. Best to go when you can be there when they open to avoid standing in line. Tends to be noisy but fun atmosphere. Very Portland.

Very popular (expect to wait a bit) spot off the beaten path. Southern style food like hush puppies, catfish, etc. All deliciously prepared and served in a down home style (minus the southern accents). Have the banana-toffee pie - Mucho delicious!
