Let's start off saying this is the best fried chicken that I have far, love boneless breast and the pepper breading. We also got the fried oysters and fried okra which every one loved, I didn't try them since I don't like them also we had the hush puppies and they was good. Need to get their early or you... More

We have eaten here a handful of times now and have yet to be disappointed! When we go for dinner I have a tendency to get the screen door plate (3 sides of your choosing) and I always get the fried catfish as one of my sides! Fried catfish was never something on my radar until screen door and now... More

So let's get first things first - I'm from Tennessee originally and have had southern food my entire life. In that time, I've had some amazing southern food, and this is not amazing. Why people are lining up thirty minutes+ prior to opening is beyond me... this place is not that great. I will say that our server brought out... More

The wait for brunch here can be long and at times you will get rained on....but it is worth it! As my title says this is the best southern food I have had outside the South and I realy did not expect to find it in the Pacific Northwest. The outside of the restaurant is unimposing as is the inside...it's... More

This was our first visit to Portland and we asked some of the locals where to go for breakfast. It was suggested to try Screen Door, but get there when they open because they get crowded. That is the truth. When we arrived there was a line, but we thought it was worth the wait of 20 minutes. My friend... More

Unfortunately, Portland does not have decent southern food, at least not that I have been able to find. Several people told me this place was fantastic and I went there early to avoid the wait, which worked fine. If you get there when the place opens during the week, there won't be any wait. The line will move in quickly.... More

Nothing exotic, nothing unusual here. Just good southern fried food in huge servings at a very affordable price. Dinners were served hot and tasty in a very noisy, casual atmosphere. Part of the allure of this place is that they don't open the doors for dinner until 5:30 and people start lining up on the sidewalk outside by 5:00. Great... More

Here are 2 categories of diners: 1. You have never had fried chicken in the south 2. You have. If you are #2, do not waste your time here. You will be disappointed. I have had the best fried chicken and chicken liver in Chattanooga and Nashville. I was comparing this place to that experience of ordering everything being deep... More

I don't even know how to write this review because this is on my top 5 best restaurants in PDX. The brunch is unreal, every time. From the chicken and waffles, to the pecan bacon, to all of the specials they have every weekend, to the bloodys. i cannot get enough of this place. It is worth the wait or... More

Being that we have family in South Carolina and Georgia we love southern food and have had some of the best in Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room (Savannah), Paula Deen's, and Magnolia Grill (NC). To me the quality of the food at Screen Door is at least as good as the food at those restaurants, but it takes a long time... More
