We tried this restaurant on a recommendation from our hotel clerk. She said that we might have to wait, but when we got to the restaurant, we were seated immediately and our waitress had us drinks within 5 minutes. We had a few questions about the different dishes & the waitress was very knowledgeable and explained everything. We had the... More

Packed place, still managed to get a table with 4 adults and 3 kids. Very quick service, and very good food. Huge portions. The chicken was some of the best I have ever had, as was the gumbo. I will be back next time we are in Portland!

We had a family dinner here the week of Thanksgiving. We had a party of nine we had to wait a bit for the food to get to our table but was worth the wait. Just to let you know the chicken and the catfish (fried) are on the spicy side, it was fine for me but would be too... More

This place is always packed so my wife and I do a call in order, pick it up and take the food to a local park to eat. My wife loves their food and so do I. We have gone three times and have ordered different food each time. One thing my wife always gets is the Collard Greens. She... More

I'm from Georgia and I know good grits and these are the best! Top it with an egg, ham, cheese and flavoring and it will warm you thru and thru. We also like the build a breakfast menu too. Loved the place!

We've been here before but it's the first time we brought our family with us. Still didn't disappoint. Consistently good!

This place came highly recommended by an acquaintance. We were so looking forward to trying the food. We usually frequent other places for brunch, but thought we'd try something new. Unfortunately we could not get the chance to even sit down. The place was beyond packed. I could imagine the frustration of the hostess (or maybe it was the owner... More

I have waited awhile to write this review. I have been here many times, but stopped going due to it becoming a tourist attraction for foodie travelers and suburbanites. A friend wanted to meet to celebrate getting a new job so we went with our respective significant others. Three of us arrived well before they opened. We were given an... More

As others have said, the wait is atrocious and the waiting area is cramped. I felt very much in the way of the staff, but it was freezing cold and I didn't want to wait outside (and neither did and of the other 10-15 parties). I'm not crazy about southern American cuisine, but my boyfriend does so we waited. I... More

Came across Screen Door on a recent trip to Portland and was in love immediately - I had no idea I liked southern food so much. As a vegetarian, I was excited to a bunch of options - the local/organic salads are amazing (and huge). The mac and cheese is not to be missed. We were stuffed after the meal,... More
