After searching Trip Advisor for good restaurants in Portland, we decided for Toro Bravo. And what a great decision. We got there at around 8:30 (right on time for us Southern Europeans) and got seated at the chef's counter. But the best was yet to come: the food. We had a few amazing tapas, but the Seared Scallops with Romesco... more

We came here on a Sunday night and man, was this place hopping. Service was great, even though they were busy, we were seated in the lounge right away and then shortly got a table. Previous trip advisor reviews raved about the scallops and bacon wrapped date tapas, so we started with those and they were delicious. Paella was next... more

My husband and I have been here on a few times when we want a special dinner. Most recently we were there for my birthday and our server was wonderful and knowledgeable of all the wines on the list and explained dishes when we asked. The coppa steak is to die for....tender, smokey, and just yummy, and we also always... more

The paella is fab, ditto the salt cod fritters. We split the paella. Way too much for one person. The chocolate cake in warm sauce wasn't worth the 15-minute wait, but everything else was delicious. Their list of appetizers is amazing. The couple next to us made an entire meal of several of them, A good plan. Come when they... more

Reading reviews for the tapas restaurant Pata Negra, I saw a reviewer complain that Pata Negra does not compare to El Bulli or other choice places in Spain. I'd like to complain that Toro Bravo does not compare to the quality of a mom and pop hole in the wall in any spanish city. To find food like this you'd... more

We decided to go here for a light tapas style dinner one night. We ended up stuffing ourselves silly. The best part is that the food just gradually arrives, dish by dish, so there's no waiting for more. By the time you finish one dish, they're already bringing you another. My favorite plates were the scallops: succulent, and served with... more

Off the beaten path, the food at this restaurant is sure to delight. I breezed in by myself and found a table at the bar. The food is so interesting and inventive, the place comfortable and casual. Must try's: Bacon wrapped dates and French kisses, tiny but flavorful morsels priced at $2 each. I thought the Scallops were terrific ($13,... more

We went to Toro Bravo on a Friday night around 8:30 PM and got seated immediately at the chef's counter. It was tough to choose what to order since everything seemed so good. We started off with the French kisses (Brandy soaked prunes stuffed with foie gras) which were a delightful start. Following a similar trend we then had the... more

we booked reservation based on past reviews and was not disappointed. Gotta have the grilled bacon wrapped dates with warm honey! Was out of this world with unique flavors. Another favorite was the seared scallops with romesco. Did not have a dish that we did not like. Definitely out top restaurant experience in Portland more

You must have tapas at Toro Bravo. We were a party of six and ordered all kinds of stuff. Everything we ordered had its own unique flavors. Enjoyed the French Kisses, the sardines, the octopus ink dish ... but you must must order the calcots/onions with salbitxada sauce. I ordered an extra dish of the salbitxada sauce and enjoyed every... more
