The Savoy Tavern was established May 5th 2005 with the sole intention of bringing the dishes and tastes of the Midwest to Portland Oregon. Since then we have been serving up mountains of fried cheese curds, rivers of Friday fish fry's, and hours and hours of happy hours for our guests. The Savoy's room has been described as a dark, cozy, sleek, modern interior with homey Midwest charms.    Our goal is to provide our guests with the best value in food, beer, wine, and cocktails. Our food will bring you back to the home cooking of the Midwest, and back again through our front door. We pride ourselves on our regulars, our neighborhood, our staff, and above all, our good ol' Midwest hospitality.

An Appetizing Slice of Clinton

This cozy little bistro and tavern is one of the many great places bringing neighbors and visitors to Portland's Clinton neighborhood. We gathered with a few extended family members for a relaxed dinner and rehashing of some great memories. From Millennial to Boomer, we each found our home in... read more

The (double) hamburgers on a recent Monday night were okay, but I think the cheese sat under the warmer a little too long. It just didn't lend any flavor to the meat and it congealed unattractively around the edges. The fries and onion rings were also okay, flavorful, but a far cry from the best I have had. This restaurant... More

Stopped by for a pre-dinner happy hour for a friend's birthday. Enjoyed the deep fried cheese curds and some delicious cocktails. The bar side is small, but has great ambiance and good service.

I love this place. Comfortable and cool. Good food. Like that it is located in an easy-going part of SE Portland. Not too groovy.

Less than half of the items on the menu were available because this restaurant was planning to convert over to hamburgers only. I ordered the brussels sprouts and garlic which were the best preparation of Brussels sprouts i have ever eaten - and I have them often. My friend ordered soup and was not given a spoon. She ran the... More

Savoy Tavern is my go-to dinner spot whenever I attend a performance at the Clinton Street Theater. The sides plate is perfect - last time I had grilled asparagus, a mixed green salad and the mac and cheese. Actually, I always order the mac and cheese - who can resist all that cheesy goodness?

We enjoyed our recent visit to the Savoy Tavern. The atmosphere is great. Actually made me feel like I was back in Wisconsin! The fried cheese curds were excellent as was the fish and chips. Unfortunately the meals were a bit pricey considering the portion sizes. I didn't need a huge portion, but have come to expect it in American... More

Gotta go. Their beacon cheddar soup is amazing. Everything is good on the menu. Service can be slow at times but worth the wait. Prices are on the low side for the expertly prepaired and executed dishes. I feel like I'm cheating a little...gourmet restaurant food and atmosphere.....food cart prices. Can't go wrong with this one!

It's not really a tavern per SE, but more of a diner with an emphasis on the bar. I love the fact that it separates dining areas into one part adults only, one part dining with kids. It was Friday night so the hubby had fish and chips, which he said was excellent. Really crunchy fish and thin crunchy fries.... More

We had dinner and drinks there, a group of 6. My food was great, but others weren't as happy. Drinks were good, the waiter was very friendly. Not a place to go in a hurry but when you have time to relax as grab dinner at a neighborhood place, this is a good place.
