Our hostess Lisa was a delight, the service was reasonably attentive, the food was good to excellent, but being forced to sit at a communal table with 8 or 10 other folks was less than satisfying. So, a fine restaurant, but definitely not appropriate for a quiet romantic dinner. We had gnocchi with frog legs and salsa verde (good), foie... more

We ate at le Pigeon last night after recently moving to Portland from Montreal and boy was it tasty! We considered ourselves fairly difficult to please, having lived and eaten ravenously in both Quebec and France and weren't sure how good Portland's best would be. We were blown away. We had a later reservation and our table wasn't near ready... more

Small casual, place in ordinary neighborhood but food is to die for! Service was terrific, I felt like we were in someones home.Communal tables; we had delightful "neighbors". My wife (the carnivore) had a veal dish she loved. My fish was the best ever. more

We loved our meal at Le Pigeon in Portland. The food is excellent, there is an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs cook. Some of the tables are communal which is kind of fun. Our service was very professional and attentive. I loved the Bread Pudding with Huckleberry Sauce and Goat Cheese ice cream for dessert. We will... more

Uncomfortable hipster-kitsch. Not interesting, nouveau-white-trash cuisine, served at community tables. How dreadfully boorish! Ironic: they even sell T-Shirts! more

We didn't actually get to have dinner at Le Pigeon, as, unfortunately, my partner started feeling ill as we arrived to the restaurant. But the staff was ever so helpful, nice and understanding, the place looked so good, that I could not let the opportunity pass to say a big thank you to the staff and how gutted we are... more

This was one of the best meals I've ever had. EVER. Visiting from out of town, we called to make a reservation, but they were already booked. However, we were encouraged to come anyway, as they have some seating for walk-ins. We arrived and were seated right away on this hot, Monday summer night. For appetizers we had the Escarole... more

I personally love this place - there are foods here that you won't find elsewhere. Most dishes are very rich - butter is a prime ingredient in everything that isn't already laden with its own fats - taste is everything! The ambiance is laid back and open - if you want a private table in a corner, go elsewhere. If... more
