We are committed to providing the highest quality food and service by sparing no expense and by using only the best local products and sustainable resources available. Here at Mama Mia Trattoria, we take pride in our daily, freshly made pastas, mozzarella cheese, and our scrumptious homemade desserts. We even make our Italian ice cream and sorbet daily. Our dining room sparkles with over twenty crystal chandeliers and nearly fifty gilded mirrors. Our marble tables are reminiscent of those found in many Trattorias throughout Italy. With our dramatically tall ceilings, an entire wall of fourteen-foot tall windows, keep the dining room lively yet mysterious. The warm ambiance of rich red, green, gold and black decor beckons diners to relax and savor the brilliant flavors of Italian cooking served in a luxurious yet Portland-esque casual atmosphere. The rich, black granite bar is a perfect spot for one of our delicious signature cocktails, many made with our own house-infused spirits. Both the sixty-inch and forty-inch high-definition televisions are the perfect place to watch your favorite sporting events while you sit back and relax. Our entire food menu is served throughout the day at the most comfortable bar in downtown Portland. Our location, the historic Waldo Building, built in 1886, is easily visible on one of the most traveled corners in Downtown Portland at the intersection of SW Washington Street and 2nd Avenue, just feet away from great shopping at Pioneer Place, the waterfront, mass transit and some of the most visited attractions in downtown. So plan something special and meet your friends, family, and colleagues at Mama Mia Trattoria. Our old school Italian-American soul food, like that offered at the best restaurants in "Little Italy's" across the United States, will exceed your expectations. Real Italian! It brings back memories of the old neighborhood.

A pleasant place to have a truly Italian meal, I stopped in for lunch and enjoyed the old music and the free garlic bread that comes with joining their dining club. With the exception of a cold bite in the middle of the lasagna, which unfortunately forced me to give a less than excellent rating, I... read more

Had a very nice dinner with good service. Bread and water were brought to our table as soon as we were seated. We started with the fried zucchini appetizer followed by a Caesar salad for two of us and the house salad for our third. All were very good. Entrees included veal piccata, spaghetti Bolonese and Cioppino, all of which... More

When I say generous, I mean the portions - big enough to share - and the friendly service, and the welcoming atmosphere. This would be a terrific place to bring a group and share different plates family-style. So many great selections to choose from! The Linguine Carbonara was superb, and the lasagna a big hit. We started with calamari, and... More

Good happy hour from 4-7. We do have a infant with us and sometimes are unable to do the lounge scene. We were pleased to be able to have seating outside and enjoy the happy hour. The clams and muscles were tasty. The pasta's and meatballs were both good choices. Only malfunction was we got our 2nd course prior to... More

I've always loved Mama Mia for lunch or dinner, but this time I visited to check out the Happy Hour. They've expanded their food listings for HH. I had the Caesar and it was delicious. I also had a side of garlic bread-delicious. They now have a meatball slider and I'm anxious to try that next visit. Highly recommend.

So I have been there 4 times now with friends and family hoping I would be impressed. NOT!!! Had Eggs Benedict for Father's Day. Some one forgot that the sauce has lemon in it! No a taste of it at all... they had a scone and prosciutto did not work.. No one at the table like theirs either. The potatoes... More

My family of four opted for this restaurant based on the positive TA reviews. Restaurant was half full at 8 pm on a Saturday night. The good: the space was bright and welcoming enough, we were seated promptly by the hostess, acknowledged by our waiter, and drink orders taken. The so-so: Our waiter wasn't terrible, but he disappeared several times... More

We were visiting the area for the wineries and Memorial Day festivals. Found Mama Mia on a quiet Sunday afternoon. A great find, very well priced on top of that. Friendly, casual staff and great food.

Stopped by for a quick lunch and didn't want to leave. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and everyone very friendly. The steak salad and lasagne my husband and I had were excellent. Wish our stay in Portland would have allowed us another visit.

Enjoyed happy hour there. Had the daily lasagna & ceasar salad and a coke for $10 and some change -- you can't beat that. A nice place with good old music -- Sinatra and the likes.
