Description: When you dine at Mama Mia Trattoria, Portland’s Italian tradition, you’ve taken a step back in time into a traditional Italian kitchen where memories come to life with authentic southern Italian meals and the genuine hospitality of people who love delicious and genuine Italian dishes. At Mama Mia Trattoria our meals are prepared from scratch every day, with only the freshest ingredients. Our sauces and meatballs simmer all day to add the perfect flavor and essence to our expertly crafted dishes. We are committed to providing the highest quality food and service by sparing no expense and by using only the best local products and sustainable resources available. Here at Mama Mia Trattoria, we take pride in our daily, freshly made pastas, mozzarella cheese, and our scrumptious homemade desserts. We even make our Italian ice cream and sorbet daily. At Mama Mia Trattoria, you’ll find timeless favorites like chicken, veal, and eggplant parmigiana, handmade ravioli, lasagna, manicotti, gnocchi and countless other pastas, pizzas, chicken and seafood dishes, all made from scratch and cooked to perfection. Our dining room sparkles with over twenty crystal chandeliers and nearly fifty gilded mirrors. Our marble tables are reminiscent of those found in many Trattorias throughout Italy. With our dramatically tall ceilings, an entire wall of fourteen-foot tall windows, keep the dining room lively yet mysterious. The warm ambiance of rich red, green, gold and black decor beckons diners to relax and savor the brilliant flavors of Italian cooking served in a luxurious yet Portland-esque casual atmosphere. The rich, black granite bar is a perfect spot for one of our delicious signature cocktails, many made with our own house-infused spirits. Both the sixty-inch and forty-inch high-definition televisions are the perfect place to watch your favorite sporting events while you sit back and relax. Our entire food menu is served throughout the day at the most comfortable bar in downtown Portland. Our location, the historic Waldo Building, built in 1886, is easily visible on one of the most traveled corners in Downtown Portland at the intersection of SW Washington Street and 2nd Avenue, just feet away from great shopping at Pioneer Place, the waterfront, mass transit and some of the most visited attractions in downtown. So plan something special and meet your friends, family, and colleagues at Mama Mia Trattoria. Our old school Italian-American soul food, like that offered at the best restaurants in “Little Italy’s” across the United States, will exceed your expectations.

Roamed about the city one evening enjoying the Christmas lights and decorations, then, based on a friend's recommendation, stopped into Mama Mia's for a good Italian dinner. Ordered cioppino, pasta pesto, and a carafe of house Chianti. The service was excellent, the wine quite acceptable, and the cioppino tasty. The pasta pesto was also tasty, but very dry. Prices were... More

We have visited this restaurant many times and for the last six years it has been a ritual with our grand kids at Christmas time. They were very excited to go again this year. Our waitress, Victoria did an admirable job, considering what she had to work with. We did tip her twenty per cent because she tried very hard... More

Friday night dinner with my wife while on vacation in Portland. Crowded but seated within minutes at nice table at front window. Diners ranged from couples to larger family groups. Very friendly staff. We shared the larger dinner salad. It was not very good. Server came with salad and said they were out of the candied pecans and substituted toasted... More

The best garlic bread we have ever eaten. Caprese salad was good but the tomatos were soft. I had ravioli which was al dente' but tasted a bit raw, but the sauce made up for it and the ricota mixture was also really good. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs ( huge ) the lacked some spices but were fresh.... More

Went for dinner on a Sunday at 7 pm with a booking off Open Table. Busy time but tables available. We were allowed to choose ours. Service is good. Noticed on their web site if you join the rewards program, they wave the bottled wine corkage fee. Not sure if that applies every visit. Signed up but did not receive... More

Had dinner at Mama Mia's before going to the play Mama Mia recently. Had the 44Palmer cocktail which was so awesome I had a second one. The Cesar salad was delicious as was the Chicken Parmesana. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was charming and comfortable. Will definitely go back.

Had not been here since a change in ownership three years ago,. Has all the attributes of a good place location, ambiance, wine list. But the food is mediocre to a fault. Soup starts with the broth- this was thin, colored watery Chicken Piccata is to be pounded thin and fork cuttable taste was fine but... generally good service but... More

We started out with fresh fried mozzarella and fried calamari. They worked with my daughter and changed the recipe to accommodate my daughter. Both I and my husband had Chicken Parmesan which was very good. For dessert truly the best Tiramisu I ever had.

Everything is homemade daily. The butternut squash ravioli with sage butter balsamic reduction is delicious, but it's seasonal. Their desserts are all great. My husband loves their meatballs. The real gem is happy hour where you get amazing food deals at the bar. I just wish the happy hour was kid friendly. It's a cosy restaurant with a warm ambiance... More

This is a lovely restaurant on the corner of two busy streets in downtown Portland. Our party of four was there on a cold, rainy evening and our table was next to the windows by the street. We were there early so it was not busy at all. The atmosphere was cozy and pleasant, reminiscent of what an Italian restaurant... More
