Spacious older traditional Mexican restaurant

Now that the MAX Orange Line is in operation, I'm finding new places (for me) to eat. While the building isn't particularly attractive, it has been painted nicely, inside and out, with a Mexican theme. The wait staff was efficient and cordial. The food was pretty typical for a family Mexican... read more

I've had better Mexican food for much less money. I enjoyed my meal but it wasn't fabulous. The chips & salsa were pretty good. I was told that the drinks are delicious, but I didn't order one.

Real Mexican is not hot and spicy, but has great flavor. I had an enchilada/tamale plate with beans and rice. There was plenty to take home. I heard 4 waiters serenading someone with a birthday. It is a large restaurant, and nicely decorated. I loved the taste of the food, especially the tamale.

This is a bright building on an odd corner of a main street. Be careful inside as there are uneven floors in the dining area that aren't well marked. The staff are friendly and service is good. Overall the food is average traditional "Mexican" with some items pretty darn good. This visit my taco was loaded with meat but my... More

Not bad mexican food but the owners should put some money back into fixing up the place. The carpet, tables, and bathrooms are worn down and need to be upgraded. It took away from the service and food experience. One positive is the custom desert served with each meal a very tasty treat made of cinnamon toast, ice cream, whipped... More

We liked the larger portions, as that was generous, but there were issues. The taste wasn't all that good, and the salsa wasn't at all to our liking. But the staff were very kindly. Perhaps we just got a bad Friday night as they were very busy. So we'll give it another try.

I had not been here in years, and with the mixed reviews I was apprehensive. But there is no reason to be. The decor here is nice, the service was great and very friendly, and they have a fantastic happy hour. I had the La Cazuela, which is a bowl of booze with fruit slices. Tastes smoother than a Long... What a disaster. Food took forever to arrive. My wife's food didn't show up until 15 minutes after everyone else. To add, the bill was incorrect and took 20 minutes to get out of the place.

I will start with the disclaimer that I am not normally fond of Mexican food. I can usually find something that is good and isn't too spicy or have beans in it. That being said I have been to a fair number of Mexican restaurants since my wife and family do enjoy them. I did enjoy my Pollo A La... More

Sorry, but I prefer Americanized Mexican to the authentic stuff. I think this is the best place in Portland for this style of food. It's kid-friendly and they always give us complimentary ice cream.
