We read the Trip Advisor reviews prior to going and also asked the concierge at our hotel about this restaurant. We liked it so much we ate breakfast there both days we were in Portland.

Thanks, Tripadvisor. The many positive reviews led us to include Mother's during our trip to Portland, and are we glad we went there. Someone who really understands restaurants must be in charge - the service was spot-on perfect, attentive without being intrusive, with smiles as if they were really happy you came. The calamari appetizer was crispy and delicious -... More

Packed but worth the wait. The place has personality and charm. The staff has personality and charm. The food is delicious. When my wife and I had trouble deciding, the waitress suggested getting half orders of several things which we did. If those were half orders, I don't know how people eat full orders! Have never experienced half orders for... More

Ate dinner here twice during a recent trip to Oregon. On the first night the meals were fine, and if that had been my only experience I would have rated it 4 stars (we were certainly happy to go back), but our second experience wasn't so positive. Service was fine on both occasions but the food was disappointing on the... More

We ate a late brunch here. Everything was very good and the service was very friendly. We had to wait for awhile, but it was worth it. Very interesting interior that would be hard to explain. It is a cross between gaudy and homey but it works here. I believe my Mom would have loved it! Tried to go back... More

This place is fantastic! We went there for a breakfast and it was easily the best I have had during my time in Portland. The service was great, the coffee was good and the atmosphere was very friendly. I ordered the mushroom scramble and it was so tasty. I can't recommend this place enough! Definitely worth it.

Went for breakfast and wasn't disappointed. The place was packed with a line out the door. Managed to grab the last seat at the bar and didn't have to wait. Seats are a bit cramped for space with people walking behind the bar seats often bumping into you. All the wait staff is super busy, makes the service feel rushed.... More

Every city has a restaurant that is easy to understand the long waits for breakfast and brunch. Mother's Bistro is Portland's shiny diamond. The decor is shabby chic with antique whites and pastel colors giving it a feeling of literally sitting in a Mother's house. The staff was friendly but our waitress seemed a bit disinterested and abrupt but I... More

Very good home style food just like mom made! The servings are very large and are well prepared. The service was excellent. I had fish and my husband had chicken fried steak. The Fish was very good but my husbands chicken was a bit tough and dry. I would definitely hope again.
