We ate here on our second night in Portland and after a slightly pretentious meal in a hotel the night before this was a breath of fresh air. We visited on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was busy with what seemed like a good mix of tourists and locals. We were seated immediately at a table outside which was... More

Portland is such an interesting city! And the food and drink are a part of what makes it special. Jake's has an old time long wooden bar backed up by countless liquor bottles that seem to stretch forever. I was impressed by its seafood menu and that it notes the actual source of the origins of its fish and shellfish.... More

We have friends who live in Portland and told us not to go to Jakes ... "It's just a pricey tourist spot." OK, so it is a little pricey, and yes it is a tourist spot. But that's just fine because it is a fun place to have a great dinner. The menu which is heavy on seafood is extensive,... More

This is one of the best restaurants in the country. Not just Portland, Oregon. When out of town business people come to see me and want to go out for dinner I introduce them to Jakes. After one time there I swear that is why they come back to see me. "Let's go to Jakes tonight" they will say. It's... More

Visited with a customer, after a previous good experience with a customer. The oysters were superb, main course was fish as well. This is probably THE place to go in the Portland NW/ SW area if you are a fish lover. Our customer liked it to. The atmosphere is just great and the restaurant offers the convenience of valet parking.... More

I was recently trapped in rush hour traffic while in Portland. Then it occurred to me that it was happy hour at Jakes!! I hustled over there, at walking speed as traffic was at a snails pace. Procured a parking spot and scooted in just under the wire at 5:50pm. My waitress had my $2.95 hummus plate and $3.95 burger... More

Four us had dinner here on a Friday night. We had reservations and had a table for four in an alcove off the entrance by the window. The four of us hadn't seen each other for a while so after ordering drinks we took a while to actually look at the menu. Our waiter Scott checked on us but never... More

First time making Portland a holiday destination, so Jake's Famous Crawfish was on our list of must-do's. Loved the location and decor. Absolutely delicious crawfish and fresh trout offerings. The place was hopping as it was a Saturday night, so a reservations was a good idea. The fact that the place was so busy caused the only negative for us... More

During a recent trip to Portland we decided to 'splurge' a little and try Jakes! Were so glad we did as everything from the 'traditional decor' to the professional <all dressed in white jackets even> staff was exquisite. Can still taste the oyster appetizers and super soup (oyster stew). The waiter 'warned me' that this wasn't the usual version served... More
