I just read the review called "the way it's supposed to be" and I don't know if he is correct about this being "the original" but I'll take his word for it. In any case, that explains why we waited nearly an hour for a table on a Saturday mid-morning. It was worth the experience. I didn't expect... read more

I was surprised to see the Original Pancake House on the America's Classics list since I see it in so many cities and always viewed it as "just another chain", but this is the original, family owned location (the others are franchises). We showed up at around 1 pm on a Sunday and there was about a ten minute wait.... More

This is the "Original" of the now chain franchise called the "Original Pancake House." It is an actual house (or once was). The food is pure quality, through and through. Home made, carefully thought out, tested over the years. That the food is good is testified to by the fact that the bow not quite 100 or so places franchised... More

Of course, breakfast is my very favorite meal. And The Original Pancake House never fails to put a smile on my face and a happy feeling in my tummy. So many choice of pancakes. I want to try them all. One friend loves the waffles and another prefers the corned beef hash with eggs and potato pancakes. The apple pancake... More

We've gone to other locations of Original Pancake House, but never to this "first" one. The same menu with wonderful choices... absolutely delicious food. Our favorites are the cherry crepes, forty-niner flapjacks, and their to-die-for bacon. This location, however, is much smaller and cramped. And their parking lot is very tight. It tends to be very crowded.

Oh my! That says it all. I have been coming to the Original Pancake House for years. I love their fresh fruit crepes. But my friend had the fresh fruit waffle and raved about the flavor. In the winter, I order their pecan waffle with a lemon syrup. WOW. But also their chocolate chip pancakes are the best, if you... More

The Portland Original Pancake House is THE original of this small chain. They prepare great breakfasts including amazing omlettes, German pancakes, and crepes. When you go, go early as this is a very popular restaurant in Portland. It is a converted house and the dining area is relatively small. Their fresh fruit crepes are fantastic because they use only fresh,... More

The portions are huge, the prices are the highest breakfast house numbers I've ever seen, to go orders can't be called in advance, they only take cash, there is often an hour wait at peak times and not enough places to sit while waiting, not wheelchair accessible........so why are there people waiting an hour to easily spend $30.00 per in... If you have heart issues, make sure you taken your statin pill before and after and then enjoy a breakfast that overwhelms in terms of taste. For anyone in the know, this place solely focuses on high quality ingredients. Know that there will probably be a wait, so bring something to read or someone into intelligent conversation because there will... More

We met up with friends to try this amazing pancake house. Not only were we seated immediately upon arrival (9:00 am on a Saturday), we were served coffee immediately and the water glasses were always full. When you order "bacon and eggs", you get 3 of their amazing pancakes as well. I heard they make their own syrup. I don't... More
