I came here for a happy hour/dinner after work one night. It was a good meal don't get my 3 stars wrong, it just didn't really hit the spot for me. When living in one of the country's best food meccas I would choose somewhere else to have dinner and spend my precious pennies.

Our experience here was magical. From entering the unique building to desert, I have to say "Wow!" Our waitress was knowledgeable, prompt, cheerful and got everything right. The food was beautiful in presentation and chart toppingly delicious. I would strongly recommend anyone visiting the Portland area to put this excellent restaurant on the "must do" list. Located in a charming small building not far from the river, the patio is surrounded by flowers and a great place on a nice afternoon. Brunch seems to be a Portland specialty, and there's was quite good. Service was friendly but a tad slow.

We set up reservations 6 months on advance and we were not disappointed. The Poached Trout with sliced fennel and beets was outstanding as was the Nicoise Salad with fresh and perfectly cooked tuna. The outdoor seating was a plus. This is definitely worth the effort for foodies!

After researching and reading reviews of all the wonderful restaurants in Portland we were directed to VQ by our concierge stating it was one of her all time favorites. We had a nice table on the outside patio and our waitress was friendly and attentive. My wife ordered the peach and fresh ricotta cheese appetizer, stuffed trout and I had... More

We were visiting Portland for pleasure and had done enough touristy thing: local beers, donuts, festivals, sights and grandchildren. Stayed at the Marriott downtown and just wanted a nice quiet adult dinner. We knew nothing about the restaurant but a website touted it as closeby and good. A couple of clicks later and I had a reservation for that evening... More

We love that description of our courtyard! Sounds like the weather cooperated with us, and we're thrilled that it did. Thanks for joining us for dinner, and be sure to save room for our chocolate souffle next time! :) Cheers, Erin, GM More

A very busy restaurant so you need to book. Excellent location with outdoor seating should the weather allow. We opted indoor seats for a quieter more intimate setting. We arrived earlier than expected and were comfortably wait seated. Drinks were offered and we were regularly attended until our table was ready. Great food and an all round wonderful evening.

We were in town for a conference at a nearby hotel and wanted a great meal close by. The restaurant was packed, but our host jumped through hoops to get us seated quickly. When the server was too busy to get to us, the host took our drink and appy orders to get us started. If you go, don't skip... More

From the setting with indoor and outdoor dining near the river, to the wonderful care of the customers and fantastic local food, VQ is a must do restaurant stop when in Portland. The food is amazing, the restaurant beautiful and the service perfect. A truly high quality restaurant. We thought it far, far superior to the more highly rated Andina.... More
